Thomas A. Decker of Arlington dies at 73

Thomas A. Decker Jr., of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on March 3, 2026, after a long illness, according to a statement released by his family. He was 73 years old.

Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, Decker attended the University of Akron and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. He then moved to the Washington, D.C., area and accepted a position at Beaver Press, where he worked for 32 years, according to the statement.

She then worked with HIV/AIDS patients in the Inova Juniper Program to support support services, volunteered to visit AIDS patients in hospitals, and campaigned for HIV funding on Capitol Hill.

Tommy, as he was known by his family, is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Carol Decker and Kathryn Kramer of West Newbury, Massachusetts, Margaret Williams and Thomas Williams of Bluffton, South Carolina, Mary Sue and Timothy Desiato of New Philadelphia, Ohio, nieces Trina and Chad Wedekind of Jacksonville, Florida, and great-niece Isabella. Lindsey and Will Burgett of Dublin, Ohio, nephews Colin and Luke and great-nephew David Williams of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael and Lucy Desiato of Dublin, Ohio, and great-nieces Lena and Stella. Per Tom’s wishes, he will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio.
