boyfriendNetflix’s groundbreaking Japanese reality dating series centered around queer romance is returning for season two. This time, the cast swaps sunny beaches for snowy Hokkaido, setting the stage for quiet moments, real vulnerability, and meaningful emotional growth.

The new season will premiere worldwide on January 13, 2026. Netflix will release episodes every week for four weeks, with the final episode airing on February 3rd. Let’s take a closer look at the breakdown.

The 10 new men will drive a peppermint coffee truck and share a green room for about two months. The winter setting gives the boys space to open up, learn from each other, and explore the possibility of falling in love.

Netflix shared a first look photo of the new group hugging each other, giving fans a taste of the close bond that may be forming. Names and full cast information will be announced at a later date.

Season 1’s commentators include Megumi, Chiaki Horan, Thelma Aoyama, Dorian Lollobrigida, and Yoshimi Tokui. Their heartfelt reactions and insights will once again form the story that unfolds in the Green Room.

Netflix executive producer Dai Ota said, “As this is Japan’s first same-sex romance reality show, we took great care to ensure that the story depicts the truth about homosexuality.” “In Season 1, we not only explored their romance, but also their friendship and meaningful connection to each other. Season 2 will continue to tell their stories of compassion and growth, with more unique perspectives and backstories.”

For those new to the show, Season 1 followed nine queer men living on a beachfront, driving a coffee truck and navigating the ambiguous space between friendship and romance. The series garnered attention not only for its groundbreaking premise, but also for its tender and honest approach to queer connection.
