Pride Month festivities continue through the end of the month with Pride on the Bay, a new event for Rehoboth/Dewey Beach residents and visitors on June 27th.
Boaters will gather on the sandbar near Massey’s Landing from 12 to 4 p.m. Visit the Pride on the Bay Facebook page for a map of the exact location. Dewey Beach Watersports offers day-long pontoon rentals (deweybeachwatersports.com).
Aqua Bar & Grill will be sponsoring the inaugural event and will provide a floating DJ in the afternoon. Aqua will then return to the land (57 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach) for an afterparty.
Brian Sparrow, a part-time local resident, is organizing the rally, calling for a Pride-oriented event on the beach.
“We decided to organize an event during Pride Month in June,” Sparrow told the Blade. “In Rehoboth and Dewey, there aren’t many Pride events that take advantage of Rehoboth Bay.”
He pointed out that there is another event called “Bay Pride,” which is held on Sundays in late summer. “Holding the event on Saturday will increase boat rental options for our visitors and friends to participate,” Sparrow said, adding that he intends to make this an annual event.
