The political action committee supporting Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) is facing criticism over a campaign ad attacking Massie’s Republican front-runner, Eddie Gullane, for his ties to Paul Singer, a Jewish billionaire hedge fund executive and longtime supporter of same-sex marriage.
According to mediaiteThe ad, produced by Restore Freedom PAC, a project of Hold the Line PAC, aired ahead of the May 19 Republican primary and seeks to portray Mr. Gullane as insufficiently conservative on social issues and out of step with the “Make America Great Again” movement.
Federal Election Commission filings show that Hold the Line PAC, which is associated with Jan. 6 rioter Derrick Evans, spent $235,000 on television ads supporting Massey, a libertarian-leaning Republican who opposed the president’s “Big Beautiful Bill” over debt and spending concerns and has come under attack from President Trump for pushing for the release of the Epstein files.
of race The race for the Republican nomination for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District is the most expensive House primary in history in terms of advertising costs, according to research firm AdImpact. More than $32 million was spent, much of it by Trump-aligned groups and pro-Israel factions. organization They were furious at Massie’s vote against a resolution supporting the Israeli government and condemning anti-Zionism as anti-Semitism.
As such, the Hold the Line PAC seized on Elliott Management President and CEO Paul Singer, one of Galleyn’s biggest donors, and his history of supporting LGBTQ rights as evidence that Galleyne is not conservative enough. Under campaign finance laws, the PAC cannot legally work with Massey’s campaign.
Singer’s son is gay and married another man in 2009, and Singer reportedly donated Donated more than $8.5 million to initiatives supporting same-sex marriage.
According to Axiosthe one-minute ad accuses Galine of being influenced by the so-called “LGBTQ mafia” and suggests that his positions on LGBTQ rights are shaped by donations from the singer. Critics say the ad traffic uses anti-Semitic metaphors that show wealthy Jewish donors wielding outsized political influence.
“Eddie Garline has been bought and paid by the LGBTQ mafia,” the ad’s female narrator says as footage of pro-LGBTQ protests and drag queens addressing crowds flashes on screen. “Far-Left Trans Activist and Billionaire Paul Singer is Bringing Transgender Madness to Kentucky.”
“Singer is spending millions of dollars to get rid of Massey,” the narrator continues, as a rainbow graphic that reads “Paul Singer, LGBTQ Activist” flashes on the screen next to a rainbow-colored Star of David. “The gay mafia will own woke Eddie.”
The ad also includes a clip in which Singer and his team discuss how they became “very friendly with traditional gay rights groups, including die-hard Democrats,” and later became interested in funding LGBTQ advocacy groups.
“Paul Singer is a leading pro-gay, pro-trans activist who works with hard-core Democrats,” the narrator continued. “Gallaine does not share our Kentucky values. He is with the freaks. And if Galine wins, the freaks will take over. On May 19th, let’s say ‘no’ to Eddie Galine and the billionaire club of LGBTQ freaks. Re-elect Thomas Massie. For Kentucky. For America.”
