In a surprising turn of events today, rapper Nicki Minaj took aim at JAY-Z and Roc Nation by criticizing X, declaring that she would no longer release her much-teased 2026 album, and hinting that she was quitting music altogether.

“Okay, no more albums. No more music,” Minaj posted. “I hope you are happy now [@sc]” She said, “Goodbye, Barbs. Love you forever.”

This cancellation comes just weeks after she pinned a post suggesting the record would be released on March 27, 2026, a date many fans speculated was the release date for her sequel. pink friday 2.

Twitter barrage: accusations, feuds, anger

Minaj didn’t just cancel the project. In a series of posts, she accused Roc Nation of “begging Queen for a tour and an album” and said she told them “no.”

They came to Queen for a tour and an album and I said no!!!! LMFAO. I wanted to patch it. They needed Queen and Barbs’ help. I called Barbz on my secret BARB phone. And it was ringing. Just like in the casino. @sc Please let me find out…

She targeted Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez and JAY-Z, likening the company to “Broke Nation.” She also harshly criticized Mr. Perez, alleging conspiracy and civil rights violations.

One post read: “Oh, broken nation, how are you broken? … Would anyone in their right mind sign you?”

Just heard Desiree Perez talk about how she begged for 40MM and was told no😩👌🏾

Oh broken country, why is fkng broken? Who would sign you? Huaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The tour wasn’t a success, but are the vibes and bots there?

In several tweets, she implied that Roc Nation did not want her to release music, suggesting that her success threatened Roc Nation’s dominance.

She also continued to shine a spotlight on longstanding grievances regarding shares in TIDAL, the streaming platform co-founded by JAY-Z. In past public controversies, she claimed to owe between $100 million and $200 million related to her TIDAL stock.

A history of tension and conflict

Friction between Minaj and JAY-Z is nothing new. Last year, she publicly criticized Roc Nation’s decision to have Kendrick Lamar headline the Super Bowl halftime show, arguing that New Orleans native Lil Wayne was a better choice.

Her critiques have often focused on issues of equity and visibility, particularly as they relate to how artists receive compensation and credit behind the scenes.

Of course, this latest escalation comes in the midst of a huge feud between Minaj and Cardi B, with both artists trading heated insults. While that rivalry often dominates the headlines, today’s announcement shifts the spotlight firmly once again to Minaj’s own journey.

What it means and what happens next

Minaj’s statement leaves many questions. Is she really going to retire or is this a tactical retreat? Will she change direction under public pressure? And how will Roc Nation and JAY-Z react in public?

At this time, neither JAY-Z nor Perez have released a statement regarding her allegations.

For fans, the sudden cancellation feels abrupt, especially considering the project was teased and celebrated just recently. The pinned post “3.27.26” is still at the top of her X page, a lingering trace of unfulfilled promises.

Whatever unfolds, this moment marks another bold turn in Minaj’s story, reaffirming her readiness to spar with the powerful and protect what she believes is owed to her.
