According to AP News“Thailand will become the third country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage after Taiwan and Nepal. The same-sex marriage bill, which gives married partners full legal, financial and medical rights regardless of gender, passed the lower house just before the end of the session in April with the support of 400 out of 415 members in the last parliamentary session.
“The bill received final consideration in the Senate on Tuesday, with 130 of the 152 senators present voting in favour, four against and 18 abstaining.”
“The bill now needs to receive formal approval from King Vajiralongkorn, after which it will be published in the Government Gazette and an effective date will be set within 120 days.”
