The Capital Pride Alliance, which organizes the annual Pride celebration in the nation’s capital, announced that Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum music artist Maren Morris will headline the 2026 Capital Pride Concert on Sunday, June 21st.
Known for his music that combines elements of country, pop, R&B, rock, and soul, Morris has also collaborated with acclaimed queer rapper Likeli 47, pop icon Lisa Lisa, Toronto-based electronic musician, and two-time JUNO Award nominee whose music Gay-themed HBO series soundtrack fierce rivalry — and Myki Meeks, Season 18 winner rupaul’s drag race.
Morris, who is bisexual, is known for his outspoken support of LGBTQ rights, performing with drag entertainers and speaking out against anti-LGBTQ laws, including a Tennessee law that restricts drag performances in places where children may be seen.
2023, the era of LGBTQ promotion love rising At a benefit concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Morris introduced her son to a drag performer, raising objections on social media and prompting Tennessee law enforcement to arrest her. She has previously appeared as a judge rupaul’s drag race.
“At a time when LGBTQ+ people are being challenged across the country, the Capital Pride Concert is a platform where our community can be fully visible and heard,” Ryan Vos, CEO and president of the Capital Pride Alliance, said in a statement. “Bringing Maren Morris to the stage reflects this year’s theme: ‘Be. Resist. Be Bold!'” It means using your platform and voice to move culture forward. ”
The annual Pride Concert will be held on the Capitol Stage on Pennsylvania Avenue in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol, and will coincide with the annual Capital Pride Festival from noon to 10 p.m., featuring live performances by local and international artists, food and beverage vendors, tables by LGBTQ and local community organizations, and more.
Following the performance on the Capitol Stage, which ends around 8 p.m., the celebration continues with the Capital Sunset Dance Party. Featuring two hours of music from Pride’s popular DJ Tracy Young, you’ll dance in the shadow of the Houses of Parliament against the night sky.
