Young releases new power ballad
Produced by James Blake, the song leans into the emotional honesty that fans love from Young. Through haunting piano and stripped-down production, she reveals how she feels torn between the height of fame and the reality of burnout.
“I miss the high notes from here / I used to fly around here / I’m not fully alive, I’m somewhere in between,” she sings in the chorus.
The lyrics feel especially personal after a tumultuous year for Young. her album I’m just fucking myself Thanks to songs like “Messy,” he achieved huge success and later won a Grammy Award in 2026.
“The day after the Grammys, a wave of inspiration hit me,” Young said of the song. “I’m rewriting the next chapter of my story because it’s probably going to be a boring book anyway.”

“The day after I won the Grammys, I felt high. Not the high I’ve always felt, but a new kind of pure, organic high. Real,” Young shared on Instagram.
“I haven’t felt this in a long time. I didn’t realize I was missing it, but oh my god, I missed it so much.”
The singer said he immediately went back to the studio and tried to record this emotion.
“‘From Down Here’ doesn’t represent a place of definitive sadness, it just shows that joy and pain can coexist in the same space.
“I’m rewriting the next chapter of my story with this song, because how boring the old book would have been anyway. I’m back, I’m fine, and I love you all.”
“From Down Here” is just such a song. Messy, emotional, introspective, and a powerful start to what’s next for Laura Young.
