Kesha is done playing by other people’s rules.
The pop icon officially releases her self-titled “Era of Freedom,” “origami!,” A bold ode to sex, liberation, and radical self-love. The track was released ahead of her upcoming Freedom Tour and marks a confident new step into a fully independent chapter as an artist.
Filled with cheeky double entendres, “ORIGAMI!” arrives just weeks before the start of her 25-date North American tour, The Freedom Tour, which kicks off in California on May 23rd.
“‘Origami!’ is a sex fest,” Ke$ha said in a statement. “Wherever and with whomever you choose, it’s about embracing the freedom and self-love that we all deserve.” She also lists some locations in the song if you need some inspiration.
“To the bedroom, to the kitchen / To the bathroom, to the extension / Uber to the airport,” she sings.
The new era continues the raw, rebellious energy of her Tits Out tour and continues the very personal evolution that fans have seen unfold over the past few years. The Freedom Tour is intended to be “a celebration of survival, liberation, and radical joy,” according to the release.
“This summer, we’re reclaiming our bodies, our voices, and our joy,” Ke$ha said while talking about touring. “We survived. Now we will be free.”
freedom tour Supported by Chromeo on all dates, with additional appearances by Erica Jayne, Sizzy Rockett and MEEK at select stops. Kesha will also perform at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and All Things Go Festival this summer.
Kesha recently spoke on her podcast, Call Her Daddy, about the safe space she strives to create while touring and performing.
“When we were designing the show, we wanted it to feel like a pop church for everyone,” she explained. “The last act of my show is called Queer Church because my whole life I’ve been to church after church, wanted to go to seminary, been a member of the queer community, and cared deeply about the queer community.”
This new release also continues Kesha’s time as an independent artist following the launch of Kesha Records and releasing music on her own terms.
If “The Origami!” is any indication, Kesha’s next chapter will be messy, naughty, and completely in her own way.
