Catzie Eye members Megan Skiendiel and Lala Raji addressed the backlash they received from some fans for dating men after coming out as bisexual and queer, respectively.
Megan came out as bisexual in June last year, just weeks after fellow band member Lara came out as gay. The group, which also stars Sofia Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini and Manon Bannerman (currently on hiatus), regularly uses their platform to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, including featuring trans models including Vivian Wilson in their “Pinky Up” video, and member Yunche giving Lala a gift during Pride Month.
If you talk to me now, allureMegan and Lala talked more about their queerness and the erasure of bisexuality.
Lala said, “I like everyone. I’ll date anyone. I think people are trying to invalidate that because of who we’re currently or publicly dating.”

“But I’ve dated a lot of girls, and being with a woman is such a beautiful experience, and it’s a very core and important part of me and will always be for the rest of my life.”
Megan agreed, saying, “I came out as bisexual, but dating a guy doesn’t make that go away.My first relationship was with a girl, but… [the fans] I don’t know about that.
“I think people should be able to be who they are no matter what. If that’s who you are, whether it’s race, identity or anything else, be who you are. No one should take that away from you.”
support from fans
Many fans responded to this interview and shared their own frustrations with bi erasure.
One person said: “As a bisexual woman, I’m so tired of always having to justify and defend my sexuality. We just don’t owe anyone anything.”
Another said: “Never let anyone tell you biphobia doesn’t matter!” One fan chimed in: “And people still think there’s no such thing as biphobia or bi-erasure.”
Commenting on Meghan’s words, another said: “She’s so right. It’s so disgusting how even the majority of the queer community just accepts that a bi woman is biphobic just because she’s dating a man.”
Another person wrote about X: “I swear it’s so unrealistic that I have to at least explain it.”
And another added: “I love this dive that speaks openly about being queer. That’s what we need!”
