Kate Hudson and Brenda Song Want to See This Character Crossover Happen (Exclusive)

In a conversation with Gatey, Kate Hudson and Brenda Song opened up about their friendship. running point The characters dreamed up chaotic crossovers with some of their most iconic past roles and revealed unexpected industries outside of the world of sports that their characters think they’ll completely dominate.

running point Former party girl Ira Gordon (Hudson) is unexpectedly assigned to coach the legendary Los Angeles Waves basketball team after her brother Cam (Justin Theroux) enters a rehab facility. Created by Mindy Kaling, this comedy series interweaves workplace turmoil, family dysfunction, and heartfelt friendships against the backdrop of professional sports.

A big highlight of the show is the friendship between Ira and Ali (Brenda Song), whose bond becomes the emotional backbone as they navigate the male-dominated world of professional basketball. While Ayla balances a chaotic family relationship, a demanding athlete, and an increasingly messy personal life, Ali remains a source of support and confidence, always by her side.

When I asked her which character she had a friendship with that was as strong as the characters she had played in the past? running point Hudson immediately had an idea.

“I think bride warAnnie [Hathaway] And I think it’s ride or die,” Hudson said, referring to Liv and Emma’s friendship.

Song immediately jumped at the possibility of a crossover of his own, imagining what would happen if the most iconic characters crossed paths.

“Imagine Andy [Anderson] Encounter with London [Tipton]Song is best known for playing spoiled young lady London Tipton on the Disney Channel series. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody Hudson, on the other hand, is known for his roles in romantic comedies alongside Matthew McConaughey. how to lose a guy in 10 dayss. “Andy will interview London and write an article about her. That would be really fun.”

From there, the conversation became even more chaotic as the two continued to brainstorm dream friendships between the characters throughout the film’s saga. Hudson is Penny Lane almost famous Maybe you’ll hit it off with Mary Ann. The last showgirl.

“Oh, that would be difficult,” Song joked.

Kate Hudson and Brenda Song think their characters belong in fashion

nevertheless running point Although it centers around navigating the male-dominated world of sports, Hudson and Song revealed that they already know where their characters will develop next.

“Imagine them operating like a clothing company or a fashion magazine,” Song says. “How fun would that be?”

Hudson readily agreed. “I hope we can do that,” she said.

That idea spiraled into a full-fledged fantasy of showing up courtside wearing haute couture looks while secretly running the fashion world behind the scenes. “In haute couture? In the office, coming courtside?” Song joked. “That would be interesting.”

Honestly, they might be on to something.

Their real-world friendship is just as strong

Beyond jokes and crossover ideas, the conversation revealed just how collaborative the two actors are behind the scenes.

Song said Hudson has become one of her go-to people for advice.

“With Kate, if you ask her one thing about what kind of flower it is, she’ll say, ‘Wait a minute,’ and within 10 minutes, she’ll know everything about that flower,” Song said. “She has a wealth of information.”

Meanwhile, Hudson praised Song for always showing up for the people she cares about.

“Brenda shows up. She shows up for you,” Hudson said. “Whether it’s your birthday party or any event or anything you host or charity work, Brenda is always there for you as a girlfriend.”

Their chemistry and genuine admiration for each other is evident on screen. running pointthe characters continue to overcome ambition, friendship, and high-pressure environments together.

And if a fashion magazine spinoff ever comes to fruition, we already know who will be paying attention first. running point Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on April 23rd.
