Ahead of the 2024 vice presidential debate, Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance has ramped up his anti-transgender rhetoric to infuriate the Republican base.
On Saturday, September 28, the Republican senator from Ohio appeared on stage with right-wing, anti-LGBTQ evangelical pastor Lance Wallnow at a town hall event with Christian nationalist leaders. .
Vance used the opportunity to test potential lines of attack during a debate with Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz.
He blamed “creeping socialism” as well as LGBTQ-affirming environments and the acceptance of transgender people in schools for the decline in educational standards.
“First of all, America’s education system was once the envy of the world, rich or poor. We believe in this country that everyone has the right to a quality education. I believe there is.
“Well, American kids can’t add five plus five, but they can tell that there are 87 different genders. And I think both of those things are related.”
Vance did not specify the gender of the 87 people.
He went on to bash educators who embraced socialist ideology, anti-Christian animus, and various “woke” concepts.
“We’re teaching our kids radical ideas, so we’re not teaching them the basics,” Vance told Wallnow. “We’re not teaching all the things that every child needs to have a good life, like reading, writing, and arithmetic. And that’s the socialism that’s creeping into our schools, as you point out. We have to get out of there, and I think we cut the money. Stop spending our tax dollars on extremist organizations that are poisoning the minds of our children.”
The Trump-Vance campaign has sought to distance itself from the Heritage Foundation’s controversial Project 2025 initiative, but Vance’s frequent tirades against public education, one of Project 2025’s key proposals, have led to the federal Department of Education. It appears that preparations are being made for demolition.
In particular, the Republican Party’s obsession with transgender issues has been prioritized as a wedge issue in political campaigns. It wouldn’t be surprising if Vance attacked Walz, who has signed many pro-LGBTQ bills in Minnesota, on LGBTQ issues in future debates.
Wallnow called opponents of Florida’s “don’t say gay” law “trans taliban” Wallnow criticized Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly for vetoing a bill that would have barred minors from receiving gender-affirming care. I wrote to X The children are being “evangelized by a teachers’ union working with Democratic LGBT activists who run genital mutilation parlors targeting children.”
Wallnow, a self-proclaimed “prophet” and 2020 election conspiracy theorist, attacked Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she represents the “Jezebel spirit.” He claims the political left is “full of demons” and one of them is “wooing” Harris.
Last month, after Harris’ excellent debate performance against former President Donald Trump, Wallnow said that Harris “magic” pretends to be “presidential” for viewers to debate while obscuring a more sinister left-wing agenda.
he also claimed He said the 2024 election “will be rigged” by mail-in ballot fraud by left-wing individuals, adding that fake votes will be placed in mail-in ballot drop boxes to try to sway the election in Harris’ favor. It suggests that it will be packed.
