A masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot a gay woman in Minneapolis after firing shots through the window of her SUV during a roadside confrontation.

video Video posted online shows two undercover ICE agents approaching a Honda Pilot parked in the middle of Portland Avenue near 34th Street in Minneapolis’ Powderhorn neighborhood. One of the agents can be heard yelling at the SUV driver – later. identified Renee Nicole Good, 37, told her to “get out of the car” as she tried to open the driver’s door while a deputy stood behind her.

The video shows the SUV slowly backing up and then moving forward, making it appear as if the driver was attempting to leave the scene. The third officer, who had moved around to the rear of the vehicle and was standing near the front end, drew his gun and fired three shots into the SUV. After driving on the road for a while, the vehicle collided with a parked car.

Additional video footage of the aftermath shows ICE officers blocking a man who identified himself as a doctor from checking Good’s pulse and performing rescue efforts. Other agents tell the man and woman who were filming the scene of their neighbor’s murder to stay where they are and that ICE medics will respond.

Witness Caitlin Cullenson, who recorded the video, said she was out walking when she noticed an ICE vehicle stuck in the snow. As more ICE vehicles arrived, bystanders began blowing whistles in protest, prompting the SUV driver to move the vehicle onto the road. Mr. Karenson said: reformer She said she did not see ICE agents attempting to detain anyone before or after the shooting.

Another witness, Emily Heller, said the driver of the SUV was “completely slumped inside the vehicle” after the shots were fired. Heller also said she saw ICE agents obstructing doctors from responding to Good after the vehicle crashed and stopped.

Mr. Heller said: reformer It took about 15 minutes for emergency personnel to arrive at the scene because ICE officers refused to move their vehicles to allow ambulances and fire trucks to pass. As a result, emergency personnel had to get out of the car and walk to the scene of the accident before beginning rescue.

Good was eventually pulled from the wrecked vehicle and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Minneapolis police said.

Trump administration officials called Goode a “rioter,” accused him of trying to use his car as a weapon, and claimed the ICE officer who fired was acting in self-defense.

“One of the violent rioters used his vehicle as a weapon and attempted to kill the officer. This was an act of domestic terrorism. The ICE officer fired defensive fire in fear for his life, the lives of his fellow officers, and the safety of the public,” DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin wrote in X.

President Donald Trump claims on Truth Social post He said Goode was a “professional agitator” who “violently ran over an ICE officer” and blamed the shooting on the actions of “radical leftists.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem condemned the actions leading up to the shooting, saying a “group of instigators” had been harassing ICE officers “all day long.” CNN. She accused some demonstrators, including Good, of trying to block ICE officers’ entry and thwart their efforts. Noem also condemned Goode’s shooting, calling it an act of “domestic terrorism” and an attempt to “weaponize a car.”

Defenders of the Trump administration argued that videos showing different angles of the confrontation supported the officers’ claims of self-defense. Others, including several social media users, accused DHS officials of “lying” about what happened.

digital news outlet 404 Media reviewed four videos of the incident and concluded that DHS officials were lying about what happened.

“The Honda had already swerved to the right away from the officer when the man, fearing for his life, opened fire. There were no other officers on the road where the car was completely level, meaning no other fellow officers were in danger,” the magazine wrote.

After ICE agents left the scene, hundreds of supporters gathered for a vigil in Goode’s honor, some placing white roses where her blood had stained the snow.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, both Democrats, criticized the actions of ICE officers, saying they had previously warned that ICE’s aggressive stance toward protesters could lead to violence.

Frey called ICE’s statement that the shooting was in self-defense “a hoax,” accused the agency of “stowing confusion and mistrust,” and added, “We need ICE to get the hell out of Minneapolis.”
