cast of Goosebumps: The Vanishing We are ready to redefine horror with all our heart. Ahead of the series’ premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10, the actors sat down to discuss expression, character evolution, and their love for spooky stories.

About Goosebumps

“Goosebumps: The Vanishing The story begins when twins Cece and Devin Brewer are sent to spend the summer with their divorced father in Gravesend, Brooklyn. A threat comes into play, and they soon realize that a dark secret lies within them, setting off a chain of events that unravels a deep mystery. As they explore the unknown, Cece, Devin, and their friends Alex, CJ, and Frankie find themselves drawn into the horrifying story of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in 1994. Masu. ”

Breaking the boundaries of horror

Ana Ortiz, who plays Detective Jen, spoke passionately about her excitement about bringing Latinx representation to the horror genre.

“I have never seen a Latina, let alone a Latina woman, cower in fear,” Ortiz said. “I was really excited to play this role. If it resonates with little brown girls out there, queer or not, I’m so happy.”

Ortiz’s co-star Francesca Noel, who plays Alex, echoed her sentiments, emphasizing that her character’s multi-layered identity resonates with viewers.

“For me, I was playing a queer character, and that meant a lot to me,” Noel explained. “Every now and then we hear tragic lesbian stories like this, and Alex understands that and she’s really fighting to speak up for herself and we… Watching her triumphantly overcome it…I don’t know, but I thought it was really nice to be able to kind of do something like, “Give her that strength.” ‘But she felt like a very strong character to play. ”

Ortiz added: Goosebumps: The Vanishing Breaking through stereotypes.

“We’re not just Latinas, we’re not just queer,” she says. “We are people first and they really gave us that.”

Jaden Bartels and Sam McCarthy also provided insight into their characters’ emotional arcs. Bartels, who plays Cece, described her as an ambitious young woman who challenges society’s expectations.

“She’s the typical perfect student, but there’s something about her that people probably don’t see in that typical way,” Bartels revealed. “And I love Cece because she breaks through those boundaries and doesn’t even think about it too much. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but Cece is going through this season with her path and what she’s going to do in her life. And I know that I personally relate to her journey, and I think many others will too, And I’m really, really happy about that.”

Meanwhile, Devin, played by McCarthy, struggles with family turmoil and self-identity.

“My parents are divorced,” the actor began. “I’ve grown up going back and forth, and sometimes I don’t really know where I’m going to end up or where my home base is. I also think that at some point in his life, Devin wasn’t necessarily a rock at home. I have a sense of stability like But he doesn’t have it in himself, and he’s getting to the point where he’s starting to get ready to go out into the world, and he’s starting to get a little restless, and he’s thinking, “Oh, maybe I have this solidity in me, too.” I think I might not have it. So I think we’re at a point where he’s starting a journey of finding that strength and wholeness within the community and within himself, and I think he’s actually setting off without realizing it. I think so. ”
