Legendary rugby referee Nigel Owens married his now-husband last weekend in a ceremony overlooking the sea in a Welsh resort. Owens called. “A wonderful day” and “the proudest day of my life.”
Owens, 53, had a rugby-themed wedding to his long-term partner, teacher Barry Jones-Davies. Wales Online reports: There is a table named Principality Stadium, a famous stadium in Wales.
It’s easy to see why marrying Jones-Davis was such a proud moment for Owens: After coming out as gay in 2007, he spoke of the trauma he experienced as he struggled with his sexual orientation, saying he suffered from bulimia and considered chemical castration.

The days of Owens and Jones-Davis are over. Managing the farm together A few days after the wedding, Owens returned to the farm and posted to Instagram about his excitement at seeing a newborn calf in the Welsh countryside.
Owens and Jones-Davis have embarked on a journey to parenthood through adoption, with Owens Discussed last year:
“I can’t say too much about the process itself at this point, but we are both very excited. This is something we’ve been talking about for a few years and it’s taken a while to get to this point, but now it’s happening and we can’t wait. Having said that, I have to admit I’m a little nervous.”
