Stop pressing as there are brand new photos of Josh O’Connor and Paul Mezcal in the historic odd drama The history of sound It has been released.
Post eXclusively by Vanity Fairthe stills are presented by two gorgeous actors in costumes suitable for the era.
One features a pair of mezcal floating in the pool, O’Connor smoking a cigarette, and a pair laughing together next to the piano.
Director Oliver Hermanus’ film embarks on a project that records the lives, songs and stories of his fellow wartime buddies, studying at the post-World War Conservatory in New England.
The pair is instantly hooked when they hear Lionel (played by Mezcal) hear David (O’Connor) sing a folk song from the young Lionel people.
This is an adaptation of a Pulitzer Prize-winning short story of the same title written by Ben Shattuck.
The film is scheduled to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, and is said to “emphasize an incredible, sometimes tragic turn of plot, demonstrating an effortless, obvious sweet connection between the two characters.”
Mescal and O’Connor, fresh from their success We are all strangers and Gladiatorand Challenger Molly Price, Rafael Subage, Hadley Robinson, Emma Canning, Brianna Middleton, Gary Raymond, Allison Bartlett and Michael Schanz are featured in the film, respectively.
Hermanus He spoke to Vanity Fair: “I’m a gay guy. I want to go to the movies and watch movies about similar relationships.
“For me, this was always about wanting to be accessible to everyone. We’re not going to make a film about their relationships or sexuality issues,” he explained.
Mezcal said the film “arguably contains romantic gestures,” but “basically it’s about Lionel’s life.”
“There is a certain sense of fellowship and the joy and loss that comes with its presence and absence. It’s not just the strength to fall in love with sex, it’s deeper than that,” Mezcal added.
