Actor Eric Dane has died at the age of 53, less than a year after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease.
The actor passed away on February 19, according to a statement released by his representative. In his later years, he was surrounded by friends and family, including his “devoted” wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, who were “the center of his world.”
In April 2025, Dane announced that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly known as ALS).
“Throughout his battle with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same battle,” a statement from his representative said.

Dane remained on the show as a series regular from season 3 to season 9, and returned in season 17 for a guest spot.
