Dylan O’Brien’s brother Jultz O’Brien has publicly claimed that the two have been estranged for more than a year, including previous public support from the LGBTQ+ community, including praise for the trans brothers in a 2024 interview.

Julz O’Brien, who has identified himself as Transmasculine and uses the pronoun, made the claim in response to an Instagram post shared on May 1st. The gay era. Supportive words resurface and spark reaction

2024 Vulture Interview, Dylan O’Brien said:

“I have trans, non-binary siblings and I know that people are queer in my personal life too. I’m grateful for how deep I’ve deepened my experience in this world.”

The quote was widely praised at the time and resurfaced this week. However, according to Jultz, the reality of his relationship with Dylan is a different picture.

Jultz replies: “He didn’t even want me a happy birthday.”

In the comments below The gay era Instagram posts [the post has since been deleted]Jurtz wrote:

“When I had top surgery, he didn’t check in. He didn’t even want me a happy birthday last week! But I’m happy to have deepened his experience in this world and made him love the world so much.”

Jultz also revealed that as transmasculines they have not identified as non-binary, as Dylan said in an interview.

According to Healthline, “Transmasculine” refers to an individual assigned at birth that better identifies a male gender identity.

It is unclear when communication between the siblings ceased, but Jultz last posted a photo with Dylan in 2023.

“I love you so much.”

The public change in tone surprised fans, as previous social media posts suggested a loving relationship.

No comments from Dylan’s team

As of the time of reporting, Dylan O’Brien representatives had not responded to requests for comment on Jultz’s statement. However, in previous interviews, Dylan spoke openly about his learning process in terms of gender identity and inclusion.

2024 Interview with AdobeO’Brien said he’s working on it. Pony Boy– The film about sex workers without gender was “Enlightenment.”

“It was a very enlightening experience for me,” he said. “I have it [co-star River Gallo] With me for the rest of my life as friends. ”

While the actor’s comments on queer inclusion have been praised previously, Jultz’s allegations highlight the tensions that exist between public support and personal relationships.

For now, Dylan has not worked on comments about their identity or clarification of Jurtz.
