The DC Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis Commission, which regulates the sale of liquor at bars, restaurants, nightclubs and other facilities that are permitted to provide alcoholic beverages, has approved long-term time for alcoholic services and sales during the days when most world-leading events take place in the country’s capital.

In its May 2nd announcement, the Alcoholic Beverages and Cannabis Bureau, which will work with the board, said the WorldPride extended liquor and sales hours will be held from Friday, May 30th to 4am on Monday, June 9th.

The official schedule for the WorldPride event shows that the event will take place from May 17th to June 8th, but most of the larger events, including the two-day Pride Street Festival, parades and concerts, were expected to take place from May 30th to June 8th.

ABCA announcement and an ABCA spokesman said that appropriately licensed liquor service facilities will remain open 24 hours a day and can serve alcoholic beverages from 6am until evening until 4am.

ABCA’s announcement states that facilities that serve liquor will need to apply for an extended time option and pay a $100 registration fee by the May 27th deadline.

Sources familiar with the Liquor Commission said over the years the board has approved extensions to liquor and sales times for certain holidays, such as important events and major year days.

Upon approval of the WorldPride long-term time, the Liquor Commission approved the long-term time for the World Cup soccer tournament game on June 18th, June 22nd and June 26th.

Of the 22 LGBTQ bars in DC, we were unable to immediately determine what plans to apply for extended drinking times. David Perzza, owner of Adams Morgan’s gay bar pitcher, and his adjacent lesbian bars, are her own league and said he would apply for the 4am extension option, but he said he would not be leaving the two 23-hour bars open.

Under the city’s current alcoholic beverage regulations, facilities that serve licensed liquor may offer alcoholic beverages from 2am on weekdays until 3am on weekends.
