In a series of Instagram stories posted last week, Stause called out fellow cast member Bre Tiesi, who allegedly promoted the politically accused brand and used outdated and offensive terms to refer to the non-binary G Flip.
“Some people are great for TV, but when it comes to talking about our real issues (such as using slur, etc.), they tend to get cut,” Stause wrote in a screenshot of a promotional post by Tiesi, a company called Maga Bracelets. “When you watch season 9, use this as a guideline.”

The Maga Bracelets brand sells “patriotic, conservative gems” according to promotional materials. Tiesi apologised, claiming she is unaware of her affiliation, and in her Instagram story, “I’m far from Maga” and “I can’t apologise enough for surveillance here.”

Influencer Jennifer Stano also came to Tiesi’s defense and explained that Tiesi was sent an evil eye bracelet from a company called Lavaraverse, and that the promotional material included cards from related brands.
Despite the apology, the controversy did not end there. Stause continues to address the issue on her Instagram, people A report detailing the lawsuit, which involves Tiesi and three former employees, starting in April 2024. The lawsuit accused of “emotional distress, loss of income, loss of employment benefits,” and alleges that the plaintiff was “harassed, discriminated against and/or retaliated based on gender, gender and sexual orientation.”
Tiesi denies all claims made in the lawsuit.
Stause emphasized that her concerns go beyond politics. “I don’t make a show to know how she mentioned my partner, but this is not just political for those who say it,” she wrote.

Stause added that production restrictions caused by the lawsuit forced cast members to “murder real issues while filming.”
She later shared a dictionary definition of the word “crossdressing” and labeled it as “an outdated and often offensive term.”

“It’s not my job to teach her that the term is very outdated, but here’s a free education,” she writes. “And if my partner was a trance, I’m not, so I love them exactly the same with pleasure. GTFOH. Someone will take my phone.”

This incident is not the first incident that had to defend her partner’s identity on the show. In the 2023 episode, she revised castmate Marie Lou Nurk.
“Now, my partner is non-binary. They use their/their pronouns. This is easy,” Stause told Nurk on camera.
She also tackled the tensions with Nicole Young in the reunion episode of Season 7. “I accused her of young as she liked Instagram comments that she hoped she would have been off on Australia rather than on screen this season.
“First of all, what do you want about me, I’m a strict bitch,” Stause told Young during the reunion. “But don’t chase after my partner.”
“Listen, I own it. I was a bitch to you. I hate you. I own it… if you literally go to homophobic people and you’re going to cheer them on because they hate me for that reason, it’s hatred, Nicole.”
Netflix has not officially announced its ninth season yet Selling the sunsetStause and several cast members have confirmed that filming has already taken place.
