The British Supreme Court ruling on April 17th Scotland vs. Minister for Scotland for women Gender identity defined based on biological sex at birth. Guidance from control and from Equality & Human Rights Committee They intend to restrict access to trans people’s choice of unity facilities in their workplaces, public areas, sports, schools and public associations.

in Open Letter Started by development producer Sid Strickland and script editor Jack Casey, hundreds of UK industry experts stand in solidarity with trans, non-binary and intersex people whose equality laws influence.

“We are in solidarity with the trans, non-binary and intersex communities affected by the Supreme Court decision of April 17,” the letter states. “We would like to add a voice to the signers of our over 2000 open letter from British writers to the trans community, which was released last week, and to invite members of our industry and cultural organizations to join us.”

The letter explains that “the Supreme Court decision that under the Equality Act, “women” is defined by biological sex states that “the concept of sex is either binary, and a person is either female or male.”

“Movie and TV are powerful tools for empathy and education, and I passionately believe in the screen’s ability to change minds and minds. This is an opportunity to be on the right side of history.”

just 24 hoursthe letter had accumulated around 400 signatures from actors, writers, directors, editors, and executives of companies such as new photographs, sister photos, photographs of motivations, and productions around the world. As of Friday, May 2nd, that number had risen dramatically.

Here are some of the names and faces of the actors and writers who signed the letter:

Heart Stopper Author: Alice Osseman

As the open letter states, film, television is in fact a “powerful tool for empathy and education,” so it’s safe to see professionals from many industry groups in solidarity with people whose livelihoods are constantly at risk.

Similarly, major musicians signed Open Letter On behalf of the UK music industry, we also provide solidarity to Transfolk.

I refer to this list of names of open letters to the film and television industry and the continued growth of the UK music industry.
