Brits drink Aperol Spritz as soon as the weather warms up to a certain temperature, a new study has found.
Temperatures in the UK can be awkward during spring, and one day you’ll be wearing shorts and a t-shirt, the next you’ll be caught in the rain and have to throw on a coat.
But new data from Deliveroo shows that Britons are quick to consume Aperol when temperatures hit 16C.
Orders for the bright orange aperitif soared by nearly 400 per cent as temperatures rose to 16C, suggesting we Brits don’t need to use our certified heatwave as an excuse.
Similarly, Deliveroo recorded a spike in customers asking for ‘specialty bites’ such as dips, olives and sausage rolls as the weather warmed up and thermometers hit 18°C.
“A glimpse of sunlight is enough.”
Suzy McClintock, Vice President of Consumer and Emerging Areas at Deliveroo, said: “The moment the thermometer hits 16C, it’s like a silent signal going off across the country. It turns out Brits don’t need a heatwave to get in the mood for summer. Just a glimpse of sunshine is enough to send an Aperol order from the rooftops.”
“Whether it’s a spontaneous picnic in the park or the year’s first ‘pickybits’ dinner in the garden, we’re seeing a big change in the way people shop as soon as the winter chill eases. sainsbury’s and waitroseyour summer essentials are ready to be delivered to your doorstep in as little as 20 minutes. Because when the British sun actually appears, you don’t want to miss the moment. ”
