Rumors are swirling around about potential storylines, but Peacock and its creative team are wrapping things tightly. What we know: original film director and writer Amy Heckerling returns as an executive producer and brings her signature talent to a new generation ignorance.
The creative team behind the sequel
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage – best known for turning high school dramas into TV gold gossip girl and Nancy Drew – Set to write a series Funny Friday (and FREEKY Friday) Author Jordan Weiss. The trio will serve as executive producers under Schwartz and Savage’s Fake Empire production banner.
In addition to Silverstone and Heckerling, the show was an executive produced by Robert Lawrence, who also produced the original film. The project is being developed by CBS Studios and Peacock’s Universal TV.
