As for No. 5, the Index, which measures state-level LGBTQ+ inclusion among business leaders, noted a decline in national support for the LGBTQ+ community for the fourth year in a row, with five states (including one in the South) cited.
As Jack Walker reports, the 8th annual State LGBTQ+ Business Climate Index, published by OutLeadership, an LGBTQ+ business network, examines states across five major categories. This year’s report found that states ranked at the bottom of the index have been performing worse each year, with fewer states falling in the middle of the 100-point index scale.
On the positive side, five states in the Northeast make up the top 10 best-performing states in this year’s index, while the Midwest has two representatives, a region close to my heart. Check out Jack’s story for the other three.
