Each house has a natural planet called a Karaka which acts as a key to the house and its meaning often gives the solution to the situation. Some houses have multiple meanings.
- 1st House: The Sun is the symbol of nature and the karaka of health.
- 2nd House: Jupiter, which represents family and wealth.
- 3rd House: Mars represents competition and siblings.
- 4th House: Moon is the central karaka representing happiness and mother and Venus is the secondary karaka representing vehicle.
- 5th House: Jupiter represents children and spiritual wisdom.
- 6th House: Mars represents enemies and Saturn represents illness and debts.
- 7th House: Venus for female spouse and Jupiter for male spouse.
- 8th House: Saturn governs longevity.
- 9th House: Jupiter represents the master and the Sun represents the father.
- 10th House: Sun representing status/prestige, Mercury representing career.
- 11th House: Jupiter represents profits and elder brother.
- 12th House: Ketu represents liberation and Saturn represents suffering.
Usually malefic planets in the house (even in 3rd, 6th, 8th and 12th houses) or malefic association with the lord of the house will create malefic association or problems with the karaka.Of course, consult a professional astrologer for more details.
I prefer behavioral therapies that are symbolically related to the nature of the house involved. If you are struggling with the issues outlined in the House Articles section, here are some ideas. Remember that the difficult things are what you are on this planet to master. Your talents are gifts that you give to others, not to gratify your ego while problems and challenges invite you to jump off a cliff and do something that is difficult for you.
Be brave, you are strong enough to overcome them.
1st House Remedy: Study Ayurveda and nutrition to stay healthy. Exercise more and take yoga classes. Join Toastmasters or take part in theatre shows to get in front of an audience and be the center of attention. Before you go to sleep at night, give yourself a positive self-talk in front of the mirror, praising yourself and all the good things about you and let it seep into your subconscious before you go to sleep.
2nd House Solutions: The 2nd house is about storage and is associated with Jupiter and fat. If you have family issues, food or substance abuse problems, or difficulty saving money, you need to invite Jupiter in. Find a way to save even a small amount each week. Open three main savings accounts: one for retirement, one for a six-month emergency, and one for money to set aside at the end of the month. Find a way to pay into your savings account first before paying your bills or debts.
Seek family counseling, join the Hellinger Family Constellation, or work on an ancestral cleansing. To learn how your eating habits are connected to your family’s emotions, read Jeanine Ross’s book, “When Food Is Love.”
3rd House Solutions: Actions need to be balanced in a positive way. If you have sibling rivalry issues, you need to face them and get group counseling to resolve them. If you lack courage (benefics in the 3rd house, such as Jupiter or Venus), you may need to join a competitive team sport, take up martial arts, or go on an adventure trip. Remember, what’s difficult is what’s necessary. Join a debate class or club to resolve aggression in a positive, constructive way.
Cure for the 4th House: Happiness and healing issues with your mother are key. If your mother is still alive, spend time with her, nurturing and caring for her. Practice forgiveness like honoponopono (“I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you, I love you”). Clean your home, throw out the clutter, beautify, repair and respect your home. Increase safety by adding a security system. Practice cooking at home and nurture others with your loving cooking.
Cure for the 5th house: The 5th house is related to our passions and what we want to enjoy most in life. You must find a way to expand your joy and support Jupiter. When malefics like Saturn and Ketu are here, the joy in life gets squashed. Find your passion and commit to doing it. Jupiter loves to expand and be joyful. Take up theatre or dance, get spiritual initiation in mantra meditation, play with kids or have kids. Find a way to unleash your passion.
6th House Remedies: The 6th house asks you to find time for discipline (Saturn) and exercise (Mars) to overcome health and diet issues. This isn’t easy, and Saturn and Mars are not naturally fun planets, but routine, diet, and exercise are key to preventing health problems. Study Ayurveda and nutrition. Get off the treadmill routine and find an exercise that you enjoy.
The 6th house also demands that you have a healthy attitude towards your daily tasks and routines. If you hate your job, you need to get out and find something new, but dissatisfaction with work may be inherent in your chart pattern, meaning you have to find the discipline to accept the daily routine of going to work. Change your attitude. Make a list of the things you love about your job, be grateful for them, and hold hands with the things that make you miserable at work. Can you embrace them and go to work with more genuine joy instead of complaining? Talk to your boss and ask if you can do something new.
Cure for the 7th House: Get relationship counseling. Learn listening skills and how to listen instead of interrupting. Study Nonviolent Communication by Martin Rosenberg to learn how to actively listen and communicate gently. Say “yes” when your partner wants to do something and do things together. Take an art class together, go to a dance or concert, or connect by giving each other massages and physical contact.
Cure for the 8th House: The 8th house is mystical and invites you to take up meditation and spiritual practices that can help you overcome some of the harsh karma that the 8th house brings. Take on transformative initiatives that will deeply heal your soul and allow you to discover and transform your deepest issues.
Ninth House Remedies: Go on a spiritual pilgrimage to a foreign country or undertake a meditation practice. Visit a temple or church for spiritual renewal. Spend more time with your father or heal issues related to him if he has passed away. Write a book.
10th House Solutions: Do your best in everything you do to get recognition and recognition at work. Show leadership, support and recognize your colleagues. Praise and work with your colleagues on the front lines and it will pay off for you. Look for a new job. Show leadership and do community service to get recognition.
11th House Solutions: Help others by joining groups and participating in humanitarian and service activities. Find ways to increase your income by taking on a second job or starting your own small business on the side. Make new friends every week and reach out to your own friends to build and share your network.
12th House Cure: Attend a meditation retreat or visit an ashram or a foreign country. Do acts of service without expecting gratitude. Donate to your favorite charity. When things seem out of hand, surrender and pray to the source of divinity. In that surrender, the answers will come.
