Sky View/Star View: Mars in Rohini
Mars enters the sign of Rohini (10:00-23:20 Taurus), the rising star, on July 27th and will remain there until August 15th. Currently, Mars is channeling the energy of the Moon, which moves every 2.25 days. Mars does not do well in this sign, as it struggles for security, gets carried away with passion and luxury, and loses its mission to serve the society. Therefore, Mars is an enemy sign, and one is tempted into vain activities like bodybuilding or exerting one’s physical or sexual prowess. Since Mars is debilitated in Cancer, he always finds it difficult to be in Rohini, a Moon-based sign. Nevertheless, Rohini is a very spiritual sign, as it beckons one to the worship of God and Moksha or spiritual liberation. The main deities are Brahma and Prajapati, the creators of the universe. The Shakti experienced here is the ability to “promote growth and creation”, so it is an excellent time for new creative projects.
In Mundane astrology, it is considered especially inauspicious when malefic planets transit Rohini. This is known as Rohini Sakata Veda. While Saturn transiting Rohini will increase problems as it did around 9/11 in 2001, Mars will cause short-term problems during its 19-day transit and may spark more global violence. For now, we are seeing an increase in forest fires, hurricanes, volcanoes and other geocosmic events. The Israeli missile attack on Iran was not an accidental occurrence during this transit, and concerns of war are growing as the impatient Mars can get out of control here. Bricken’s warning to Iran that it would support Israel if attacked and Israel’s warning that it would be an all-out war if attacked are no small events, especially considering that Russia and China are backing Iran.
The second pada is powerful (13.20-16.40) and ruled by Taurus, encouraging strong self-indulgence and materialistic desires whose fulfillment will still leave a void of abundance (until August 5th).Complicated by Mars/Saturn and Ketu in this pada, the upheaval in world markets due to this transit is no coincidence.
Aries and Scorpio rising still have Mars and Moon connections so emotions go up and down depending on where and how strong the Moon is passing, which is never good for Mars energy to be caught up in emotional swings. Taurus rising can lead to more relationship problems, heat-related health issues, and anger issues if over-exerted or over-excited. Cancer rising brings good results as it is the 11th from Cancer so this transit is good for material gains, close friendships between men, and new sources of income. Leo also executes their will with their new position at work and career strength.
It is therefore a good transit for material abundance for certain rising signs, but be careful of over-indulgence. The warrior pose in yoga helps to balance Mars and give focus by concentrating on the third eye and willpower.
During the more difficult transit of Pada 4 (20-23.20 Taurus) from May 13-16, Frog Pose can give extra energy to the adrenal glands.
