Congratulations on 2025!! I can’t believe I’m writing those words. Last year flew by and to be honest, I was happy to close the books in 2024. This year has been a very challenging year for me personally and I am looking forward to all the milestones that 2025 will bring. Atlantic Pacific is turning 15, I’m turning 40, and we’re celebrating a big wedding anniversary. I hope that 2025 will be a much kinder year than 2024.
I thought I’d start this year off with an updated Q&A. Regarding the Atlantic-Pacific, every few months I like to round up some new (and some recurring) questions I receive via comments, emails, and DMs. So today I’d like to answer some questions that I’ve been asked recently. You can also see older Q&A posts here , here , here , and here and access many of my FAQ posts below. If your question was not answered this time, please contact us. I will try my best to answer as much as possible.
How do you achieve a low bun hairstyle? See my tutorial here.
How do you do your daily makeup? Please see here.
How did Atlantic Pacific get started? Read about it here.
When and how did you get into the fashion industry? You can read all about it here.
Q: Where do you see the direction of the influencer field?
A: The influencer field is more nuanced than ever. We used to see big overt trends in this space, but I think the growth of diverse platforms and the total number of influencers means the rise of micro-communities. Influence will continue to grow as more and more people of all ages turn to various platforms for advice, education and inspiration. With so many creators now covering every topic and so many platforms distributing information, the influencer field continues to grow and explore new ways to reach people.
Traditional blogging was king at first, then YouTube exploded, then Instagram took over. Now you can look to different platforms to find success on different platforms. kinds of the content. The platform’s diversity allows creators to focus on the content they love and how they deliver it, whether it’s writers on Substack, comedy on TikTok, educational videos on YouTube, or controversial conversations on podcasts.
Marketing money continues to flow into the influencer world because many influencers can prove time and time again that their ROI is better than traditional marketing. Digital marketing spend across all sectors is increasing every year, and I don’t think that’s going to change.
Overall, this space will continue to grow and thrive, but now there is more emphasis on micro-influence than on being the “biggest” or following trends. It’s important to build a community and attract an engaged, like-minded audience with more specific interests. And thanks to the growth of different platforms to reach this audience, there are many different ways to do this, allowing for whichever way it feels most authentic.
One trend I would like to see is a wider acceptance of privacy in the influencer space, especially for children and non-consensual individuals (people in the background of videos, people included in content without their permission). Secondly, I think one of the most valuable things in our lives is privacy. I believe authenticity and sharing are still important. I’m not criticizing any particular influencer or type of influencer. I just hope that we can all embrace being safe and peaceful in the online world that can be dangerous.
Q: Will there be any collaborations or co-branded products in 2025?
A: This happens every year, and I’m always so grateful that so many of you have enjoyed my past collaborations and may look forward to future ones. At this point, the answer is no. I intentionally took a pause in 2024, but am open to future possibilities. We are having discussions, but nothing has been decided at this point.
For me, product collaboration is the ultimate seal of approval. It needs to be the right brand fit, the right price point, and the brand needs the team and bandwidth to execute new, high-quality designs that can be delivered on time with great customer service. I prefer not to work with brands I’ve collaborated with many times in the past, and I’m wary of brands that are too eco-friendly or don’t have a lot of experience. It’s all a delicate dance and after many successful and beautiful collaborations that I’m so proud of, I will continue to pursue only the perfect fit.
Q: What are your prospects for 2025?
A: I sometimes hate year-end trends, but I loved reading so many intentions this year about what’s “in” and what’s “out” for 2025. I also set goals, usually quarterly and based on professional evidence. That being said, I have the “details” for 2025 below.
IN: Shopping secondhand, monthly purges, starting new active hobbies, shutting out negative emotions, learning how to cook new dishes, handwritten notes, rest is important and sometimes counterproductive. Recognizing that it’s okay to be okay and not being lazy, and being consistent over controlled perfection.
Out: doomscrolling, obsessing over the weather during hurricane season (this is a joke, but I’m not kidding), spending too much on Amazon, getting irritated when Penny is having an anxious day, ASAP. Send a reply (text or email) vs. Reflect and create a more specific work schedule.
Q: How often do you clean out your closet? How do you decide what to keep and what to get rid of? What do you do with your old clothes?
A: Okay, this is always the most common question I get asked. I decided to do a big, big post on this topic. It is expected to be released later this week.
Q: Cute professional work clothes? Do I need light clothes for my India trip? Do you offer personal styling services?
A: What I’ve tried to accept over the years is that I can’t be everything to everyone and I need to stay in my lane. I love fashion and sometimes venture into beauty and lifestyle. I don’t like giving advice or recommending products if I’m not confident in them.
I haven’t worked in a truly professional environment in over five years, and even back then it was more of a “wear what you want” office. I have never been to India (though I would like to). I cannot recommend it as I am not familiar with the climate or culture well enough to give you proper advice. I love dressing myself, but dressing others is a completely different kind of art. I have a lot of respect for stylists, but I’m not a stylist.
I love answering your questions, but I always like to answer honestly where I can truly add value. By doing so, I hope you will come back and continue to trust me.
Q: What are some trends you used to love that you no longer touch? What trends are you looking forward to in 2025?
A: It’s hard for me to answer questions about letting something go because I never want to offend anyone. Trends come and go, but if you like something, wear it. Personally, I don’t reach for overt western boots, headbands, and oversized tunics as much as I used to. This is not to claim that they are “out” at all. I just found myself drawn to different items in my closet.
As for 2025, I’m most looking forward to the return of sheer materials and more romantic, feminine clothing. I also don’t dislike the tendency for styles to become voluminous or baggy. I think the combination of volumes can be very fun and beautiful if done in a more sophisticated way.
Q: How can I create my own style and unique closet?
A: In fact, I posted all about it here. It can be frustrating while you experiment and find what works for you and makes you feel good. My biggest advice is to take your time and don’t invest in anything until you feel like you’ve really established your unique style expression.
Q: Can you post more styling posts?
A: In 2024 I did a lot of styling posts. You can see some examples here, here, and here. We vowed to do even more in 2025. My list includes styling methods like button-downs, loafers, and simple bodysuits. If you have any specific requests, please contact us via DM or email!
Item specific questions:
Q: Where did you get your silver Adidas?
A: I bought it at Nordstrom, but unfortunately it’s sold out. Still in stock here and here!
Q: What are the best understated luxury bags you can buy without spending a lot of money?
A: For me it is Savet pochette. It’s well made, timeless, and I personally love the top handle design. The bag is currently available in 3 colors!
Q: What is your favorite item you bought this year?
A: This Oscar de la Rento runway skirt is absolutely stunning. Most of my favorite things I bought this year were second hand!
Q: What is your favorite outfit for 2025?
A: Probably this or this outfit. I think having a style means not only having commonalities in how you dress, but also constantly evolving. These two outfits feel like a grown-up version of Blair from 2012, and I love it!
