I have a specific system for identifying future trends that relies heavily on my Instagram save folders. It’s not complicated, but it works. Every time you stop because of an outfit, whether it’s an unexpected color choice or a unique silhouette, save it in case you see more images of the same thing over time. Just because one person wears something doesn’t make it a trend. It may be a coincidence that the two of them are wearing something. Three, but hey, that’s cause for celebration. A new trend will hit the airwaves and soon more people will be following it.
That’s what I thought when I discovered the up-and-coming 2025 skirt trend that suddenly became a mainstay in chic women’s wardrobes in cities like New York, Oslo, and Stockholm. What about the skirt in question? double layer skirt. They are basically midi and miniskirts, with layers underneath that add depth and charm to a simple outfit.
I first noticed this trend as a New York-based stylist and consultant Ellie McGoughShe’s worn her Sportmax version (a black satin high-low skirt with a white raw hem layer underneath) many times, including during Paris Fashion Week. She styled her look with a white tank top, black blazer, and Maison Margiela Tabi pumps.
Norwegian content creator Annabelle Rosendahl Her version by Copenhagen-based brand The Garment was similarly styled, swapping out heels for black net flats from Alaïa.
Finally, we spotted the Swedish influencer and stylist’s lingerie-inspired version of Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer ’24 collection Hannah MWwore a black skirt with an underlayer made of ivory lace, paired with a leather bomber jacket and burgundy Celine heels.
All three opinions on the two-layer skirt trend quickly became my[保存済み]Bookmarked to folder. It will soon be in yours too. Scroll down to shop the trends ahead of Spring 2025.
