Most wanted This is a weekly series in which one editor, staff, or influencer shares the top 30 essentials or current wish list items.
We are almost five months until 2025. This is a time when most New Year’s resolutions quietly fell into memory. But I’m proud to say that one of my people is stuck. This year, I broke up with microtrends and vowed to instead commit to a wardrobe based on timeless, versatile fundamentals. It’s seasonally, resist shunning trend cycles, and makes it easier to wear clothes.
My motivation was simple. I was tired of the fashion paradox. Excellent in front of a stuffed closet, but it felt like nothing was on. Like many, I fell into a trap of fast fixes and fleeting styles, resulting in a noisy wardrobe. So I press reset.
Instead of chasing IT items, I started curating basic staples. Think of a beautiful silhouette, high quality fabrics, neutral palettes, and basic heights that will feel just as fresh as they would in a few years.
If you find yourself in a similar cycle, I encourage you to continue scrolling. First, I share 31 anti-trend works that have become, or soon become, the backbone of my everyday style. These are more than just clothes. They are tools for building more outfits with fewer items, all chic and elegant, achieving that elusive balance of puttogs.

Striped shirts are essential to my wardrobe, whether it’s winter deaths or early summer. My favorite style is the boat neckline and ivory and black color scheme. It looks much more luxurious than the $39 price tag.

Enza Costa
Put your pants anywhere
Last year I discovered these linen pants, but I was hesitant to buy them. However, when I saw them on my Instagram feed last month, I saw them as a sign and bought them. The elastic waistband and wide leg design make these look and feel like elegant pajama pants.

Madewell
Green flip flop
As summer approaches, there are plenty of flip-flops. Among countless options, this Madewell pair stands out as my favorite due to its refined contrast between black and white. The combinations are always sophisticated.

Cesane
Clyde Trench Coat
Everyone and their mother own this trench coat. I don’t like to be basic or wear what others do, but I couldn’t pass on the Paris staple.

When I saw the high neck t-shirt at Kite, I quickly fell in love with it. However, the prices were a bit steep for my budget, so I’m excited to find this affordable alternative from Lioness.

Everlane
Eternal jeans of the 90s
I took these home last week and have already worn them five times. The sales associates at Everlaine Soho Store asked me for my thoughts and replied, “I have no notes.” My one recommendation is to increase the size and wear it low on the waist.

Dragon spread
Rosanna bag
When the sun shines, only Dragon Difusion’s hand-woven bag is everything you want to bring. Instead of a regular beach cover-up, I enjoy combining them unexpectedly with jeans and blazers, or chic mini dresses.

In the summer, these are my favorite shorts. Style it with a simple tank top, lightweight button-down shirt, and even a bikini top.

Lioness
Field of Dreams Maxi Skirt
Catch me in Hampton this summer with a kitten heeled flip-flop and a black tank top.

cos
Mini Studio Bowling Bag
Structured shape, simple tote handles, little to no branding. This is a bag that you can easily run for money to Margaux.

I noticed that fashion people are becoming more creative with belt styling and wanted to give it a try. So I’m adding this new curved style to my wardrobe. It has an expanded leather strap that allows you to wrap your skirt, jeans or top multiple times.

J.Crew
Textured satin gwen lace trim slip skirt
My colleague and I agree that lace trimmed slip skirts are a simple slip alternative.

All methods
Courtney Cardigan
I love this cardigan’s hidden front snap closure, thick knit fabric, a snug waist design and drop shoulders.

Banana Republic
Daily Wide Leg Pants
The elevated chino is the number one anti-trend pants style of 2025. This pair serves as a foundation and offers endless opportunities for creative styling through colors, textures and shapes

reform
Simona cylinder bag
Wear this for brunch in jeans and sweaters and have a fun evening in a slightly black dress.

reform
Hazel pajama set
The reforms have just announced pajamas and this hazel is set up to be my go-to pair a little more often, so it’s better to find a good hiding spot.

Lioness
Off-duty denim shirt
Lioness’s best-selling denim shirt has a dark blue wash and looks very elegant. Pair it with jeans for a Canadian tuxedo look, or wear it in black pants for a fail-safe look.

Madewell
Dean Easy Straight Jeans
If you read my reviews on Dean Easy Jeans, you know how crazy I am with them. I love their loose fit and frayed hem.

Repetto
Black Sendrilin Ballerina Flat
Every day, another chic LA fashion girl is found wearing a Repetto ballet flat paired with black pants. Some notable names include Haley Bieber, Laura Harrier and Kaia Gerber.

Zara
ZW Collection Linen Flock Coat
Don’t get me wrong, I love beige car coats, but I feel the charcoal grey is fresh and different.

Good American
Perfect for long shorts
Add belts, tanks and sandals and wear these to the office throughout the summer height.

Whether you’re hanging this bag over your shoulder or using it as a clutch, this straw bag will enhance your basic jeans, t-shirts and sandal ensemble this spring and summer.

The reason I’ve seen everyone talk about cuts on Instagram is because the brand’s T-shirts fit very well. Try it yourself and thank you later.

Citizens of humanity
Milo is relaxed high-rise barrel leg jeans
White jeans are a classic not only for summer, but all year round. So, if you don’t already own a high-quality pair, grab these from the citizens of humanity. They have a universally flattering barrel leg design that hits at the perfect length for every shoe, from boots to flats.

Celine eyewear
Triomphe Aviator Style Gold Tone and Acetate Sunglasses
Sorry, I lied – I don’t own these yet, but when I do, I know they will become important pieces of my capsule wardrobe.

Dorsey
Yves Lab Blue Paracord Necklace
Instagram influencers are calling this 2025 necklace.

H&M
Extra large poplin shirt
You may not know this yet, but the power of the blue striped button-down shirt is unparalleled. It gives a professional vibe, but when styled properly, it doesn’t fall out as an overly preppy or business.

reform
Vida Low Rise Pants
Senior Fashion Editor Eliza Hoover Pointing out these, I quickly added them to my cart and checked them out. They became my favorite pants when I was unsure about my outfit. Because they exude that effortless cool girl vibe, whether worn in a tee, blazer or just a sweater.

kite
Monroe Leather Loafers
I admire many admiration kite denim, but I think the footwear collection is equally impressive. These timeless leather loafers don’t have metal hardware, making them perfect for any outfit or accessories.
