Modern slavery exists in fashion supply chains, even at the gorgeous end of the market. The Madagascar-based fashion brand is designed for women who create artisan Raffia handbags and accessories and collaborate with Fendi and Chloe, and advocates a radically different approach.
Founder and CEO Irene Akbalary believes in putting social impact and people first. This year, the company has expanded from 350 to 750 artisans. It is primarily from vulnerable communities, including people with disabilities, sex workers, gender-based violence survivors and single mothers.
