The first black woman at a music dinner hosted by the first black woman Connie Orlando Foundationa spectacular celebration of the black women who have shaped the music industry. And every day of fashion bombs, I was truly honored to be in a building!
The intimate dinner, held before the June 9th BET Awards, served as a kickoff to unite pioneers from across the industry to honor those who influence music and community empowerment. The evening also combined purpose and strength as a fundraiser to support breast cancer awareness and research.
A wonderful, brilliant host of the night, Connie OrlandoUnlocked in Givenchy’s large sexine short-sleeved cocktail dress, easily set the evening tone full of elegance and intention.

The Connie Orlando Foundation has a mission to empower underserved communities through education, guidance and health advocacy, bringing depth and purpose to the evening festivities.
Niecy Nash illuminated the room with her distinctive charm, captivating the Guardian of Vision Award to the unparalleled June Ambrose and a gold Andrew GN gown. Few people deserve more honor than Ambrose. Ambrose’s visionary work has shaped the fashion and music industry for decades. The style icon embraced her award in the striking all-black Bibhu Mohapatra ensemble.


Ciara created a sparkling entrance along with her daughter Sienna, wearing a refined black suit from Bishme Cromartie. Meanwhile, Lori Harvey exudes a simple refinement in a white, textured Alexander McQueen Maxi dress that turns his head towards the carpet.


Muni Long’s presence sparkled as much as her voice, and she appeared in a striped bodycon mini dress by Honifa. Her transparent heels and hairstyle were the perfect component to tie her look together.

Our founder, Claire Salmers, was in the building wearing a strapless silver Christian Siriano spring gown featuring carved bodices and round embroidery overlays flowing through every step. She completed the elegant look with her metal silver ankle strap heels and mirrored clutch, providing a bold and refined statement perfect for evening celebrations.

The black woman at music dinner was more than a moment. It was a movement. Evening attendees are urged, grateful and proud to have black women gather together to celebrate, honor and lift each other.
