May always feels like the last spurt. Children are counting down the days until summer vacation, and calendars suddenly fill up for weeks. I admit the pace can feel a bit hectic, but it’s also one of my favorite sections of the year. Flowers are blooming in Charleston, the nights are getting longer, and we’re anticipating an upcoming energy shift.

Much of this month is built around something that has been in motion for a long time. A trip to Mexico that I planned last year, a formal living room that Summer and I started designing last spring, and a new collaboration that is finally starting. Here’s what’s on my radar for May:

what we are doing

  • Last month of school! Our kids are counting down the days and we’re panicking to get them settled in as much as possible before they come home for the day.
  • Go to an interior designer summer thorton house In Mexico! I’ve been planning this since last year and can’t wait!
  • Some of my favorite fine jewelry designers are coming to Charleston. I had a visit from Daniel. sherman field I had the pleasure of co-hosting the pop-up as I was able to shoot a feature with her and preview her latest collection (which is so colorful and very much my own). Retro Vai (A brand that I have loved for years and have several items from) Last week, I finally got to meet them with the brand HighSport Eileen Neuwirth at an event she hosted at The Dewberry last week. Another brand I’ve loved for years and probably have more pieces than any other designer. Jewelry is very personal and it’s fine jewelry so being able to touch it and try it on is great. Because of their price, many of these products will require you to consider them for months (or years) before making a decision. For example, my Sherman Field Rocket (sold out, similar) here) is probably the item I wear the most and was a purchase I had been looking forward to for a long time.
  • This month, we begin the design process for the collaboration, which is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027. This brand is loved by everyone, it’s a great fit and we’re so excited. There will be two more releases this year!
  • I’m looking forward to digging into it. below This month, after reading Conform in January; long ago (Recommended by a close friend)
  • Thomas’ birthday is at the end of May, so I’m already trying to brainstorm a gift for him. He doesn’t like shopping (he only likes things that are really practical).
  • A formal living room will be installed at the end of the month. We spent Summer last spring designing this room and it’s finally *almost* ready. This room has been under construction for the past month and I can’t wait for it to be finished.
