As part of the upcoming exhibition program, Imma Talks is inviting me to participate in talks with artists and curators who explore the idea of how to interweave the idea of ”Kin’Making Quining.” The program features artist conversations with a selection of artists on display at an ambitious new group exhibition It’ll stay in trouble Opens on May 2nd. And then the lunch story of a drop inculator exploring the art of quilting at an exhibition Kith & Kin: Gee’s Bend Quilt.
For general interest, we announce that more tickets are now available. Artist discussions and troubles It is currently being held on Thursday, May 1st at 5pm at People’s Pavilion in Imma.

Artist’s conversation It’ll stay in trouble

Join us for previews and artist conversations from the exhibition with special guests, part of an exciting new exhibition It’ll stay in trouble. The conversation shares different perspectives on the subject of the exhibition and more deeply reflects the role of “building relatives” and “sowing the world” in the face of ecological and social crises. The artists spoken include Laura Fitzgerald, Eogan Ryan, Jackie Shelton, Marie Foley and Atsushi Kaga. The exhibition will be released and a celebration reception will follow.

Join Georgie Thompson, Curator, Exhibition, Ima and participate in conversations and walkthroughs at the exhibition Gallery Kith & Kin: Gee’s Bend Quilt. The talk presents the clear tradition of quilting at Gee’s bend and the rich context that created a community of over five generations of Black American quilt makers on the banks of the Alabama River. Quilts are a testament to resilience, community, and heritage woven through generations.

Listen to guest curator Dominic Johnson, talk about the insightful gallery and walk through the highly acclaimed exhibitions. Hamad Batt: Anxious. This lecture offers unusual insight into butt life and work, depicting Johnson’s extensive research into contemporary and contemporary art, as well as artists whose works are marginalized by the institutional and critical history of visual art and performance.
