How to Read Your Makeup and Beauty Labels- and What to expect

It’s always a fun time when you can ki it with your girl and talk about non-stop about beauty products. Your resident Queen Kirby Mary Denny and I will be in a really good beauty conversation. We talk about everything from keeping big hair plump “Yeah, the girl saw that new teal liner. Cootee!” Recently we talked briefly about the ingredients in our products.

I think it’s important to know what you’re using. This way you can make educated decisions about the best suites that require your beauty. Businesses have the phrase “Tell the facts, the story sells.” And I think most of the obstacles during the trial and error stage of product use stem from the fact that you purchase based on the second part of that phrase. Think about it, when you saw commercials and/or picture ads, you urged to buy based on “story” rather than fact. “fact” There’s something a little scary I’m not alone.

Well, I’m passionate about this, so Marie asked me to help me board and break things apart… So, as a beauty expert and editor of your new resident, please help you in a quick and easy way to help you decode your product.

How to read makeup and beauty labels:

  • By law, ingredients must be listed in the product in descending order of proportions (concentration by weight).
  • The first ingredient (the most concentrated ingredient in the product) is usually base (product basis) Ex: water (most common), aloe, oil, etc.
  • The following groups of materials listed are usually those that give the product a texture.
  • – IDE or ATE: Thicken the water
  • – Pol or Mer: solidifies
  • – 1: Provides smoothness + slip
  • – ANE: Mixed with silicon for thickness
  • Next is the active ingredient. (Remember, the more they are on the list, the less powerful they are.)
  • The end of the list is usually color, scent, and/or other ingredients

    So you’re going there! A simple cheat sheet to help you put everything in your perspective.
