Sometimes I like to dream of costumes for events that I would like to attend one day. And the Wimbledon Tennis Championship at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club is definitely on that list. I also recently got quite a lot of DMS asking for costume ideas for events, so I thought I’d put together my posts! Founded 148 years ago, Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. It is also widely considered to be the most famous one. The event will be held at Wimbledon, London. It is approximately 7 miles from the city centre. This year, the tournament will begin on June 30th and run for 14 days on July 13th.
From classic tennis looks and preppy styles to chic dresses and trendy ensembles, I love taking a peek at what everyone wears every year. For me, fashion is half the fun of this iconic event. So naturally, I couldn’t resist putting together some Wimbledon outfit ideas for someone lucky enough to be lucky enough to participate!
I chatted with a few friends I’ve been to over the years and they shared some great tips on what to wear to Wimbledon. There is a lot to consider, from the weather to the unofficial “dress code.” Today I’ll cover it all!
Things to consider when planning your Wimbledon outfit
As mentioned earlier, I was not lucky enough to be able to attend Wimbledon (still escaped!). But I had several friends I’ve been to over the years and chose their brains as to what to consider when planning a Wimbledon outfit. This is what they shared!
Wimbledon costume dress code
Is there a dress code for the audience at this event? Technically, no – there is no official dress code. Generally, this event requires “smart casual” outfits. The only strict regulations are not torn jeans, dirty trainers, sports shorts, running vests, or bags that are more than 16″ x 12″ x 12″ x 12″
That said, Wimbledon is one of the most well-known sporting events with many attendees. do Dress up. It is not uncommon for men to see full suits, ties, and women in elegant midi dresses and heels. Personally, I would rather be overabsorbed than lacking. And I think you can dress accordingly and respect the sport, its traditions, the athletes.
Please check the weather
Temperatures in Wimbledon usually range from lows in the 50s to highs in the 70s. However, the number of temporary employees in one year exceeded 90, and another year was immersed in the low 40s. It can also rain quite a bit at that time of year – very long story, prepare in a Wimbledon outfit that is suitable for the weather!
We recommend planning on wearing a third piece in all looks in case the temperature drops. Also, with the exception of some center court, spectators are in limited shade. So, if you have a sunny day (Yay!), pack SPF, sunglasses and more to stay comfortable in the heat.
Comfortable dress
Parking is very limited and many roads are closed, so public transport, walking and cycling are all strongly encouraged at this event. Even if you arrive by car or taxi, the drop-off point is only very close to the event site, so you can expect to do quite a bit of walking.
For this reason, it is best to maintain comfort when planning your Wimbledon outfit. Choose comfortable shoes and clothing that are easy to move in – you’re happy what you’ve done!
Do Wimbledon costumes need everything?
Players must wear all white people, but the audience is not. Again, there are no strict dress code rules enforced on participants, except for a few prohibited items, such as oversized bags, hate speech, and clothing such as inappropriate language.
However, white tends to be a very popular colour choice among guests. I always think that white is a great colour for summer. It not only looks classic and chic, but also helps keep you cool. It’s no surprise that this shade is a Wimbledon staple!
What to wear at Wimbledon?
Well, now, the fun part – what to wear to Wimbledon! I’m going to break down some of the clothes that were swirling in my head for this iconic event. Here there’s a bit of everything from a slightly more over-the-top look to the outfit that feels easy and easy.
