Evie Templeton is officially having a big style moment. After building an audience on the Netflix set. Wednesday As the eccentric Agnes DeMille, the 17-year-old breakout star emerges from the dark, quirky halls of Nevermore to the sunny world of high fashion on the French Riviera.
Just yesterday, she made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival, walking the red carpet for the screening of her new comedy-horror film. Victorian psycho. The actress seamlessly blends classic elegance with a distinctive edge and playful accessories, cementing her status as an exciting newcomer to watch on screen and on the red carpet.
For a stunning debut at the festival, Templeton collaborated with leading celebrity stylists. Rebecca Corbin-Murray. Together, they created two looks in keeping with the “Cannes Daytime Chic” dress code, featuring Rodarte and Miu Miu designs that subtly pay homage to the film’s gothic romance roots.
Below, the actress reveals the inspiration behind her fantastical wardrobe, what she learned from co-star Jenna Ortega, and the “beautifully crazy” experience of bringing the popular psychological horror novel to life on screen.
How did you and your stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray settle on these styles? Why are they perfect for Cannes?
As always, the collaborative process with my stylist Rebecca was wonderful. Since it was a daytime premiere, the dress code was “Cannes Daytime Chic,” and I wanted a look that was youthful, classic, and yet personal to me.
We considered two different looks to get the best of both worlds and settled on a stunning white Rodarte dress for the photocall. This felt like the perfect summer look, but with a collar that gave a nod to the Victorian era of the film. For the carpet itself, we decided on a Miu Miu number with a small black ribbon and embellished jewels. It felt so cute and fresh! Miu Miu is a brand that I have always identified with and I love their aesthetic. to attend Cannes on behalf of [Victorian Psycho]it was a dream to wear such an amazing brand.
Tell us about your charms and accessories and how they completed the look.
For Rodarte’s look, she completed her look with a black choker (another nod to the movie!), which had a very gothic and chic feel. And of course I couldn’t forget my sunglasses! To keep it very classic, I chose a sleek black pair. I felt like the black strappy heels were perfect for both looks, and on the carpet she wore beautiful pearl drop earrings to complement the embellishments of her dress.
I worked with a dream team called bjorn krisker and sarah hill For my hair and makeup. It’s very simple, dewy and youthful, with the addition of a little eye-catching liner. Her hair was styled in subtle waves. I felt like it was the perfect summer hair and makeup look, so it was perfect for my first Cannes appearance.
This movie is victorian psycho A book? What specifically do you think readers will gain from bringing this novel to the screen?
Actually, I had read Virginia Fate’s book before appearing in this project. It was an honor to translate her wonderful writing into film as I saw the pages come to life. On set, I was surrounded by a very passionate cast and staff. We look forward to audiences experiencing this film and immersing themselves in the beautiful and crazy world we have created.
What did you learn about acting from Jenna Ortega on the set of Netflix? Wednesday? Are there any memorable behind-the-scenes moments you can share about working with her??
I learned a lot by working on it Wednesday There are a lot of exciting creatives out there. Jenna is like a big sister to me, so it was so fun to work with her and develop the relationships between the characters on the show!
One of the funniest memories I have is the body swap episode. We were filming a scene where I handed her a coffee cup and she knocked it out of my hand. During one take, it flew off and landed on someone’s head, which made us all laugh.

How would you describe your interest in fashion? Where do you get your fashion inspiration from? What brand would you like to wear or work with in the future and why?
Fashion has always intrigued me and I am learning more and more about fashion and discovering my personal style. I love how fashion can transform you on screen and at events like this. I was so lucky to wear Rodarte and Miu Miu, two dream brands, in Cannes! I love Miuccia Prada and think she’s amazing. So it was a real honor to walk the carpet wearing a Miu Miu dress.
It would be great to work with Dior, Chanel, Loewe, Balenciaga and of course Miu Miu again!
Rebecca has also styled Florence Pugh, Simone Ashley, Lily James and more. What are some of your favorite looks she’s styled for these celebrities in the past? What do you like about her approach to styling?
I couldn’t choose! They’re all amazing women who always make cool and thoughtful choices in what they wear, and they’re actresses that I really admire. I love how cooperative Rebecca is. We can sit down together and discuss ideas, what we feel looks good, and what direction we would like to go in. She’s always paying attention to the little things, a jacket here, a bag there, the perfect accessory to complete the look. She understands my personal style very well.
