Special Gala Performance
The Gate Theatre and the Brian Friel Trust are proud to announce a special gala performance. Dance at LUGHNASAIt will take place at the Gate Theatre on Sunday 25th August at 2pm. This is a fundraising event in support of the Brian Friel Trust.
Money raised will help fund the opening of the Brian Friel Centre at Court House in Glenties, Co Donegal, and the renovation of The Laurels, the former home of Friel’s aunt and the inspiration for the piece. Dance at Lughnasa.
Tickets for this fundraising gala performance are priced at 100 euros each, excluding booking fees.

agreement The story begins in April 1998, as Northern Ireland’s main political parties, the British government and the Irish government struggle, under the watchful eye of Senator George Mitchell, to hammer out an agreement that could pave the way for peace in Northern Ireland.
agreement was produced by Belfast’s Lyric Theatre and was first produced as part of events marking the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. It was nominated for Best New Play at the UK Theatre Awards and won three Broadway World Ireland Awards, including Best Director. It will be performed as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2024.

Based on Mary Norton’s beloved novel borrower It follows the fortunes of the little Clock family, who secretly live within the walls and floors of a country house and “borrow” from the adults in order to survive.
One day, their lives are thrown into disarray when Arrietty, the youngest and independent 11-year-old member of the family, is spotted by “The Human Bean,” a boy who has just returned from India. To survive, Crocs must spread her wings and embark on a dangerous and adventurous journey into the outside world to find a new home and track down her long-lost family.
This Irish premiere borrower Directed by Gate Theatre Artistic Director Róisín McBrynne, the show is an adaptation of Norton’s novel by Charles Way and includes songs written by Fionn Foley.
