For more than 80 years, Marvel’s heroes have provided hope. This August, that hope fades in the shadow of the Midnight Universe. Midnight Universe is a new publishing line where creators present new visions of Marvel heroes. Nightmare begins with three titles. Midnight X-Men Written by Jonathan Hickman (2019) house of Power of X/X, ultimate spiderman) and Matteo Della Fonte (Nova: Centurion); Midnight Fantastic Four Written by Benjamin Percy (wolverine, punisher) and Kev Walker (infernal hulk);and midnight spiderman Written by Philip Kennedy Johnson (infernal hulk) and artist Cy Tronk, making his Marvel Comics debut. The X-Men are no longer fighting for acceptance, they are bloodthirsty. The Fantastic Four venture into the unknown not to save the world, but to terrorize it. Then Spider-Man discovers that a great power is bringing forth something terrifying…

“From the original New Universe to the two Ultimate Universes, Marvel has a long history of creating and inspiring bold worlds that are simultaneously fresh and recognizable, filled with unforgettable characters and innovative ideas,” explained Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski. “With the new Midnight Line, we’ve given some of our greatest creators the opportunity to delve into the darkest corners of their imaginations and create the creepiest, scariest interpretations of the Marvel Universe we’ve ever seen.”
More information will be released in the coming months, but the main cover was released today. Midnight X-Men Dik Luan #1 is released. The main cover for the Midnight title will be Cloaked Covers, which will reveal the entire artwork when the page is turned, and will be partially hidden. With the exception of the debut issue, the entire artwork remains shrouded in shadow, revealing itself only to readers brave enough to pick it up on the stand.
Vampires and a mutant empire loom in the shadows of New York City. The Sword of Damocles rests on peace between these two races and the factions within them. A complete war has broken out and the rebellious people will be caught in the crossfire.

On having the opportunity to explore his darkest impulses, Percy explained, “If you’ve read any of my work, you know that I see the world through a dark and disturbed lens. For me, it’s always the middle of the night,” Percy explained. “When I got the call from Hickman, it was from a landline in the basement of an abandoned house where the wires were down. Blood poured from the receiver into my ear. I said yes.
“When I imagined an alternate version of Marvel, a universe filled with terrifying venom, my mind immediately went back to ‘Fantastic Four’. It’s a title I’ve always loved but never was allowed to write about any other way. “The work we’re doing now on the Midnight Line feels like history in the making,” Johnson said. “We’re all bringing the creators’ own sensibilities to our projects, redefining boundaries and reinventing these timeless characters in ways that haven’t been done before. Midnight isn’t like the Main Line, it’s not like the Ultimate Line, and you’ll see things in these books that will shock you.”
