Terrence Malick’s stunning new filma hidden lifeThis is about the blessing of Franz Jagazelter, an Austrian peasant who was martyred for his refusal to pledge his loyalty to Hitler. James Mazusky joins Thomas to discuss the film. He reads an excerpt from BL. Franz’s letters and prison writings are to see how well Malick’s portrayal lives in a real saint. The letters of Franz and his wife Franziska live their deep prayer lives, testifying to how much responsibility Franz’s heroism is to St. Cra, and the support of a good priest that is not seen in the film.

Franz Jägerstätter: Letters and Works from the PrisonEdited by Erna Putz is published by Orbis Books. This is the media publishing a substantial amount of heresy and opposing material. The letter is worth reading, but I recommend purchasing a used copy rather than supporting the publisher.
