“‘Back of a Truck’ is a song about how you feel when you remember someone you used to know, when you hear that song on the radio, or when you smell the laundry, and you smile to yourself and wish them well, and you choose to remember it by letting go of the bad and holding on to the good,” Rustam said. “Musically, I wanted to create a song that captured the feeling of driving through America with the windows down. I placed elements next to each other that I’ve never heard together before. There’s country pedal steel next to a Middle Eastern microtonal melody.
