Pop singer-songwriter Sienna Fantini is kicking off 2026 with her latest single “Claustrophobia.” Showcasing her soulful vocals and intimate storytelling, the track is her first release since her debut EP. What am I?
“Claustrophobia” explores the emotional conflict of loving someone deeply while feeling anxious and trapped by your own uncertainty, even though love is right in front of you. The song is currently available for streaming and download on platforms worldwide.
This song captures the essence of young love fading away. Sienna Fantini has a sense of innocence that holds her back even as she writes from the perspective of someone who is trying to let go. The acoustic pop offering offers a glimpse of her upcoming EP, scheduled for release in summer 2026. This track represents a period of growth for Fantini, who crafted the song in a new way by experimenting with different tunings.
“‘Claustrophobia’ was the first song I wrote in a different tuning, and it really changed my approach to music,” she says. “Open D was beautiful and encouraged me to explore further while writing. It was a really great experience.”
The song reflects her inner turmoil, torn between not knowing what she wants in life and the realization that what she has is so good that it might suffocate her. Fantini describes the creative process as an introspective journey, saying, “Writing ‘Claustrophobia’ was an eye-opener. It helped me put into words this complex feeling of feeling loved and cherished, but also trapped and overwhelmed. Between life, school, and the uncertainty of the future, everything can feel chaotic.”
Through lyrics such as “You seem to be treating me too well, I have to go now” and “Am I running away from you or am I running away from myself?”, Fantini conveys the vulnerability of falling in love with someone but being afraid to fully accept it. Her use of Open D guitar tuning creates a warm, rich sound, complemented by deep drum patterns and expressive vocals, embodying overwhelming and disorienting pain.
Produced by Sean Hurley (John Mayer, Lana Del Rey), who also played bass, the song was programmed by Ben Rhodes and featured keyboards by Taylor McCall (Lizzie McAlpine, Marcus Mumford, Joni Mitchell). Grammy Award-winning guitarist Andrew Sinowiec (Alanis Morissette, Lil Nas X) and drummer Kiel Feher (Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, Lauv) contributed to the instrumentation. The song was mixed and engineered by Grammy Award winner Darrell Thorpe (Foo Fighters, Radiohead) and mastered by David Ives.
Sienna Fantini, a 16-year-old from Los Angeles, has been immersed in music her whole life. “Music has always been a part of who I am,” she reflects. Starting out in musical theater, she then took vocal and piano lessons, eventually falling in love with the guitar and discovering a passion for songwriting. Influenced by artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, Role Models, The 1975, and Jeff Buckley, she realized she could channel her experiences into music. Her heartfelt and uplifting style has been recognized by platforms such as Live Nation’s Ones To Watch, Earmilk, CLOUT, and She Makes Pop Music.
“Claustrophobia” encourages listeners to embrace discomfort and find comfort amid uncertainty, reminding them that it’s completely okay to not have all the answers. The single is now available on all major digital platforms. Follow Sienna Fantini on Instagram and TikTok @sienafantini to keep up with her music and future releases.
