In 2023, Google launched several online certification programs aimed at helping students land entry-level jobs without having a college degree. This includes a certificate program focused on: cyber securityThis sector is likely to grow as businesses become more digital and face increasing cyber-attacks.
Coursera’s education platform offers new Google Cybersecurity Professional Certification There are eight online courses available to help students learn:
- Understand the importance of cybersecurity practices and how they impact your organization.
- Identify common risks, threats, and vulnerabilities and techniques to mitigate them.
- Protect your network, devices, people, and data from unauthorized access and cyberattacks with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Gain hands-on experience with Python, Linux, and SQL.
of Cyber Security Professional Certification We’ve also added six new videos explaining how to use AI in cybersecurity. This video covers everything from using artificial intelligence to identify bugs and system vulnerabilities to using AI to improve code and prioritize alerts.
Students can take individual courses in these professional certification programs for free. (Above you can watch the video of the first course) Cyber Security Certificate ProgramHowever, if you want to receive a certificate, Coursera charges a monthly fee of $49 (after an initial 7-day free trial period). In other words, Cyber Security Professional Certificationis designed to be completed in six months and will cost approximately $300 in total.
Once students complete a cybersecurity certificate, they can add their credentials to their LinkedIn profile, resume, or CV. As a bonus, US students can also connect. 150+ employer (e.g. American Express, Colgate-Palmolive, T‑Mobile, Walmart, Google) are committed to considering qualified candidates for open positions. According to Coursera, this certificate can prepare students to become entry-level “cybersecurity analysts and SOC (security operations center) analysts.”
