Arab Strap announces new album, story to tellwill be released on September 4th lock action. Sequel to I’m in 2024 It’s totally fine 👍 Don’t worry about it anymore 👍 Propulsive “You You You” leads with the director’s video luke bovill. Aidan Moffat of the Scottish duo describes the song as “a disco-metal spell, with a message of future happiness and camaraderie that might have you dancing and giggling, fingers crossed.” Check it out below.
“‘You You You’ is an attempt to remind ourselves, and hopefully others, that the world isn’t full of terrible people,” Moffat continued. “With millions of people all over the world struggling with the same worries every day, from the rising costs of everything, mental and physical health, to the constant carnage and oppression in our news feeds, to our unwitting role in the military-industrial complex, to the endless distortions of reality, it can often feel like a complete lack of human decency. It’s no wonder that despondency feels like our default nature.”
Malcolm Middleton added: “The excitement is because Aidan and I like different things and what we don’t like. There are things on the album that we can’t pick individually, but that’s why I love this album so much, because it’s not what I wanted to make, and I don’t think it’s what Aidan wanted to make either. It’s somewhere in between. It might not be what we want 100%, but it’s good for the band and it’s working out.”
