14 New Songs Out Today to Listen To: Protomartyr, Militarie Gun, and More

A particularly overwhelming day when the influx of new trucksg, we sift through the noise to bring you a carefully selected list of the most interesting new releases (the best of which will be added to our list) Best new songs playlist). Protomartyr – “Sounds we cannot hear”

Protomartyr is preparing a new album. Hotel Usona. The man at the helm for today’s album launch was none other than Iggy Pop, who said: “What is a protomartyr? I don’t know, but maybe it refers to an earthly being who wants more than the ordinary in life. Someone who wants to be a part of something beautiful and interesting, understanding that there may be a price to pay for that, and who understands that it will be easier for others who come after them. It’s like Jesus.” His description of the new LP? “Wagnerian” added: “It’s very reminiscent of[Richard Wagner’s]opera Tristan und Isolde. Musically, it sounds modal and kind of chromatic. It’s like what you would imagine a Celtic war horn to be like in a forgotten battle.” You can feel the atmosphere from the lead single “Sounds We Cannont Hear.”

Military Gun – “The world is always on fire” [feat. Mannequin Pussy’s Missy Dabice]

It’s always exciting when Military Gun teams up with other bands. “Pressure Cooker,” a collaboration with hardcore band Dazy, is rightly one of their most beloved songs. And today, they’ve teamed up with Mannequin Pussy’s Missy Davis (who appeared on the 2024 remix of “Will Logic”) for the similarly anthemic “World Always Burning.” “I can’t say whether the world is actually ending, but it certainly feels like the sense of community in the world is almost dying,” said Military Gun’s Ian Shelton. “I wanted to write about all the things we are being tricked into discussing so that the politicians and technocratic fascists can get away with doing whatever they want. My neighbors and I may not agree on everything, but at least I know they are not the ones behind disenfranchising people and destroying the world.”

Victoria Monet – “Reach Out”

Victoria Monet releases new album love frequencyserved with “Reach Out” jam from Kaytranada. The new album will be the follow-up to their 2023 debut. Jaguar II.

Krill – “Commemorative Plate”

Krill is back with their first new single in 10 years, “Commemorative Plaque.” Jonah Furman, Ian Becker and new member Andrew Klinkman (Moontype, Spirits Having Fun) are joined by Chicago multi-instrumentalist Macy Stewart and saxophonist Will Green on the eerily disorienting track.

Wild Pink – “500 is the new 250”

Wild Pink releases stunning cut ‘500 Is the New 250’ from upcoming album still coming down. The accompanying video represents the third visual chapter in the series, helmed by Wes Starrs.

No Name – “Squatter” [feat. DRAM]

Noname, a new song in collaboration with Virginia rapper DRAM, tells the story of when squatters moved into her home. “Squatter” is taken from her upcoming mixtape. cartoon radio.

Brennan Weddle – “Let’s Be Models” and “Two Dollar Pistol”

Brennan Weddle has released several more songs from his upcoming self-titled album, Let’s Be Models and Two Dollar Pistol. 2 Hollis – “Heart”

The only complaint I had with the original is that it was too short.

Melaina Coll – “Hydra”

According to Tubbs frontman Owen Williams, “‘Stoop to Me’ is our most power-pop song. There’s a few nods to Bob Mold, and a kind of cider-drunk vibe with the fiddle part.
