Spiritual Halloween. What is the true meaning of All Saints’ Day?

The mainstream holiday of Halloween has a deeper spiritual meaning behind it.

The origins of Halloween date back to the ancient Celts, who held a festival called “Halloween” around October 31st. Samhain (pronounced souin).

Samhain was the final harvest festival of the season, celebrated exactly between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. (Around October 31st^st However, the exact quarterly date for 2022 is November 7th.)

The gateway to the winter season

In ancient times, Samhain marked the end of the growing season and the beginning of winter, a powerful turning point in the wheel of the year that represents the cycle of life, death and rebirth that the Earth experiences each year.

In the annual cycle, Samhain is a time of death.

It’s winter, when the trees shed their leaves, animals go into hibernation, the days get shorter and colder, and it’s a more inward-looking time of rest and quiet.

Samhain is a festival that celebrates the end of a cycle and the beginning of the dark half of the year. Darkness represents the unknown, the void, the subconscious, the realm of intuition, and all that cannot be seen or understood logically.

The ancient Celts marked this time of year with rituals that accepted and celebrated death as a natural part of life, as well as a time to honour ancestors and spirits residing in the afterlife, and to gain insight into the dark, hidden realms of the subconscious.

By integrating and accepting the darkness, you also renew your knowledge and power of light.

The spiritual meaning of Halloween today

Now that we know the earliest history of Halloween…

Today I want to talk a little bit about how you can add a spiritual element to your Halloween celebrations.

Halloween is a day that celebrates the end of a cycle and the death of what came before…

Now is a powerful time to honor and release all that has been removed from your reality.

Release and let go!

Halloween is the perfect time to let go and let go.

Consciously release lower emotions, outdated patterns and energies that are tied to past situations, thoughts and limiting programs.

Take time to clear your energy through a salt bath, a cleansing meditation, or simply consciously clearing your energy with light and returning to love.

Letting go also involves taking the time to honor and release all that you have accomplished in the past year.

We see this in the trees practicing this for us right now by shedding their leaves. By letting go of all that has been, by letting what is completed die and fall away, you open the way and harness the power of the cycle of life, death and rebirth. Letting go of the old is an important step in clearing the way for creative potential and new opportunities to arise.

Connecting with the Spirit Realm

Halloween is supposed to be a time when the spirit world is more active – although not strictly speaking this is the case – it is a time when the veil between the material and spirit worlds is thinner and we can become more aware of the activity going on in the spirit world.

This makes Halloween the perfect time to consciously tune into the spiritual realm.

This might be to honor the spirits of ancestors or loved ones, or it might be to look for signs from a loved one who has passed away.

Now is a great time to develop your intuition.

By becoming aware now, you can access your innate psychic abilities and connect with the guidance and insights of your guides, angels, spiritual lineage, and ancestors.

You are always guided, but around Halloween it’s even easier to listen to the guidance from Spirit that is meant for you.

Clear your mind, listen to the power of love within, and ask:

“Angels, please help me to clearly feel and know your presence in my life now. Help me know the best next step to take to bring more joy, love, and fulfillment into my life.”

Halloween and Psychic Protection

Halloween is a thin veil, Many people celebrate this holiday without realizing it…

It is good to consciously keep your energies clear and protected during this time, which is very easy to do with a little awareness, love and light.

This is especially important if you go to a Halloween party where people are drinking, or if you go to a scary movie, or if you go to a haunted house, or anywhere where fear energy is generated and invoked, or where people are focused in the lower “spooky realm.”

Carry your amethyst stone with you to stay conscious and transmute strange and discordant energies that arise with the power of the violet flame and higher light.

One thing I want to make clear here is that Samhain is not a holiday to be feared!

It is wise to put a little extra awareness into consciously transforming that which no longer serves you…honor your intuition and the wonderful life beyond what we can see or understand from our perspective as physical beings.

I see Halloween as a wonderful opportunity to welcome the unknown, to reflect, to let go, and to bring a little magic and intuition into everyday life.

This year, as you take your kids out trick-or-treating or hand out candy around the neighborhood, you might remember the following:

Death is no obstacle to love. And so the wheel of life turns and death appears…

It simply paves the way for the next cycle of rebirth, where we are reset to a whole new experience.
