Below are some tips to get you started with meditation. These tips will help you, whatever your goal in meditating may be: relax, increase self-awareness or find peace.

1. Find a quiet place

The first thing you have to do before you start meditating is to find a comfortable chair and then choose a quiet place where there are no distractions. That place should be the place you like the most, above any other place. Whether it is indoors or outdoors, it should definitely be one of the least stressful environments possible. Some beginners may find bright lights or background noise helpful, but the most important thing is that the environment is right in terms of concentration. We emphasize on the fact that there should be no interference or any form of disturbance during the session, as that will increase your concentration.

2. Focus on your breathing

Some people claim that breathing is especially important in the meditation process. First, choose a comfortable and familiar position, sitting or lying down. Relax into that position and breathe in and out, focusing on your breath and calming your mind with each inhale and exhale. Following this process will help you shut off thoughts from your brain, which can interfere with information processing. When you notice that your mind is wandering, gently remind yourself to shift your focus and focus on your breath. First, remember that most people who are new to meditation practice need to start with small steps. These are usually led by a teacher or voice who leads the participant through the meditation process, including how to breathe, when to focus, and how to relax.
