Bangs are done! I vowed to become more of a hat person and added a dad cap and a Stetson to my wardrobe. Then I ordered some inexpensive pre-tied headscarves in hopes of looking chic and not looking like I was wearing a half-baked Little Steven Halloween costume. But sometimes you just want to look like you have a lot of hair. I didn’t think I was a candidate for a full wig. As a theater geek, I already know that I don’t like wearing wigs. So when the Topper concept caught my attention, I immediately decided to jump on board.

Let’s be real now. Topper is a wig no matter how you look at it. That’s a very unappealing way to put it, I know. Toupees are usually considered a solution for bald men rather than women, but they’re also not a particularly reliable solution. They’ve been a visual punchline for as long as we can remember. If you just hear the word wig and it reminds you of Stan from the movie, golden girls or grandfather from christmas vacationyou are not alone. But aside from their slightly similar names, toppers are aimed at people with long hair, and unlike the typical glue on wigs, they clip onto the hair you already have.

“Toppers are ideal for those experiencing moderate to severe hair thinning,” says hairstylist and extension expert Haven Whiteman. luxurious hair. This brand is best known for its clip-in and halo extensions. human hair remy topper There are over a dozen colors. “Unlike clip-in wefts, the topper is designed to increase coverage and density across the crown, sides, and top of the head, the areas where thinness is most noticeable.”

Choosing a color is a pretty expensive gamble, costing $200 on sale if you’re lucky. (Some companies offer matches based on photos, while others let you order swatches for a few dollars.) When I received a few toppers to try out for free due to work, I kind of knew what to expect, but I was still surprised to find a solid mesh base hiding beneath my hair, making it look like a disembodied scalp. But as strange as it is, I had to realize how realistic they looked. I was especially impressed by the soft texture and nuanced colors. But I wasn’t so sure it looked realistic. above.

Although ready to wear right out of the box, Whiteman says human hair toppers can be customized just like your own hair. After consulting with the stylist, billy hunnam in Anushka Spa & Salon Palm Beach helped me figure out how to make these toppers look like I wasn’t wearing them. He helped me make my existing hair look as thin as possible, so I trusted him to transform my hair into a shaggy, layered style that was part of my natural look. After comparing three toppers, we spent the appointment focusing on a dark brown 12-inch length style with pre-cut bangs. Irresistible MeThis brand also uses human hair for toppers, extensions, and wigs. The colors match incredibly perfectly and the bangs blend in easily with my existing cut.
