Has Maura Higgins Ever Gotten Plastic Surgery?

I used L’Oreal’s Infallible Setting Spray. [Editor’s note: This won a Best of Beauty Award in 2025!], This is truly a godsend. Because you need your makeup to last all day long. Obviously, you’re on a mission, you’re out in the cold, you’re out in the rain, and the weather wasn’t the best. It definitely helped. I was using Patrick Ta’s blush, which I’m obsessed with.

I used L’Oreal mascara. It’s gold. I don’t really know if it’s waterproof or not. But strangely, I’ve never had a problem with mascara, even though it’s not waterproof. I have never applied mascara all over my face. I don’t know why.

When did MAC Spice become your favorite?

Well, I’ve been using it for years. I can’t remember what I was using before. I just really love the colors. My lips don’t have much pigment. What is the permanent red spot on your lips called? I always wonder, oh, now I know. But then I think, “Oh my god, no, because I’m afraid the spices will look different to my eyes.” I always think that when I try spices with my girlfriends, it looks so different to them. But I don’t have any pigment, so I think my lip tone looks different compared to other people. My makeup artist always tells me that too. She’s like, “You don’t have any pigment.” And I’m like, “I know, I’m very Irish.”

Were you able to interact with people in the castle while you were preparing, or were you preparing alone?

You are preparing yourself. you are alone I’m pretty sure we had Spotify on the TV at home because I remember playing music a lot. Of course, there are times when you can talk to people off-camera, but obviously that’s not game chat. You can talk about anything else. And those were the moments where we were able to really get to know each other. But no, in Gram’s case we were just one person.

I didn’t have a bad night’s sleep. The shooting time was unusual. You may have only gotten 3 hours of sleep the night before, so you definitely need time to relax, have a cup of coffee, and do your makeup without distractions, either quietly or with some music. I always wore Ludovico Einaudi. He’s my favorite and there’s something about his music that’s really relaxing for me.

How is your charm in front of the camera different from your everyday charm? Do you turn up your volume for the camera?

One thing I don’t do is point at the camera and shoot. Because we know it can lead to disaster. When I go out to lunch with the girls, I do the exact same thing. You can’t change your attractiveness. Maybe if it was a night look I’d try some more wings, but that’s about it. Personally I don’t think it’s that good [at makeup]but everyone says, “You’re very good at showing off your charm.” But when you have a makeup artist do glamorous makeup for you, you think, “Oh my god, you’re so good at it.” Once she attracts me, it continues. I was able to sleep in it. I don’t think so because I’m so obsessed with skincare, but I was able to really sleep with this and it didn’t make me flinch. However, when I do my own makeup, I always notice that my makeup doesn’t last long, and that’s obviously because of the way I apply it. I always do the same thing and it’s very boring, but I think I know what works and what looks good on my face. There’s no need to fix what isn’t broken.
