I never thought I was excited to show you the most beautiful garage door I’ve ever had. When we finally agreed to invest in making the garage better, our goal was to make them work, but we had very low expectations of how beautiful they were. Our garage is not on the streets our neighbors can see (only friends and trustworthy FedEx people will see them), they are not part of our curb appeal (not attached to the house), so our goal was “better, basic” (“dry, disgusting, less spider and mold” and ultimately lower risk). But today we are talking specifically about the door – what we’re calling now The best garage door ever. And I have the obstacle of not being able to do anything obvious or “not getting hooked on how clean it is,” so I ended up choosing these clean doors that make me so happy – much happier than I expected.
Before we get into the full post, here are some fun little videos (wait for the ad to play :))
in front
This is where I started five years ago. We knew we were lucky to have this huge garage at all (right?), but they were not in the best shape and everything needed repairs.
We ignored them for a few years and, after our house was finally finished, they were such an eyebrow, so we hired the most affordable painter in the town who was willing to just paint without preparing (a real literal lipstick about the situation of the pig). But we knew they weren’t in good condition to properly invest in shavings and painting. The fresh coat was a bit helpful, but otherwise I didn’t touch it for another three years.

Starting in January, we knew we needed storage as we wanted to start restoring the facility’s original carriage house. You need a garage to become a future and permanent storage space for our vintage hoarding and future product lines (not to mention life and holidays). So we hired my brother’s brand new company, The construction mentioned aboveTo fix them, and the new garage doors were clear mandatory.
I’ve received multiple review recommendations Ponderosaa local (and experienced) garage door installer. I reached out and really loved their customer service, speed, communication style (fast and personal with simple text notifications), and a variety of excellent door products. After telling the owner, Ken, I wanted a carriage style door, he suggested we work with the company we call. Cropey Because they are meant to be the best garage doors with a huge variety of customization and styles (we are vintage style, but certainly some are very modern and modern). As expected, the price range is above average, but due to our property style (more historic and antique), we felt we had to choose what really lined up with the property. It turns out I always care, whether I promised myself “I didn’t care,” or focused more on functionality and speed. everytime.

I chose Canyon Ridge Elements Garage Doorand to get everything specifically about them (if you want to copy them exactly), they are insulated steel garage doors with low maintenance, with composite overlays. I chose Design 22 (diagonal design method) using SQ23 Windows (size and configuration style). SW Dutch Tile Blue (They can match any Sherwin Williams colour).

My goodness, are they beautiful? Ponderosa installed them in one day – one day!! They arrived in a team of three and powered me as I had to do something. And they were very professional, knowledgeable and very impressive. Service 10/10. They text ETAs and are very easy to communicate and everything is electronic (there are not many annoying contracts or documents at the end). They offer annual maintenance and a 5 star service program with the quietest motors (and it’s not something I thought I’d care about, it’s oddly quiet, but it’s really nice). It is also extremely difficult to penetrate with high-end steel and mechanisms. This is clearly important.

I added fake handles and straps to the black to make them look more vintage and collaborated with the farm’s farm design. And we wanted to add some natural light into the window above (and charm).

There were many options for all these elements, both in style and color (I chose the spear-style strap). I literally couldn’t be satisfied with what we chose and what they turned out – they add such charm and are super high quality. And the garage door has a slightly “fake” wood grain finish, which adds a truly lovely texture. This made people look very fantastical (I’m always nervous about fakes, but this is cheap, subtle and lovely).

We chose to use individual codes to control each individually. Inside there are handy buttons for opening and closing.

The inner garage doors are clean and the windows add some nice natural light. Ponderosa actually nails the execution and they work very completely, quietly, and just seamlessly (to me there is zero annoying and very intuitive). I wish I had more drama to share more drama with you, but I would like to ask if I could do it differently or give lessons I’ve learned. But I have zero regrets about this and no lessons! Wahoo! Just the best garage doors that have been fully executed.

I left the last bay open as a carport. It was the original sheep barn and never a garage. But we did this primarily for budgetary purposes. Saved the electrical, simple framing, finishing and no cement floors (only gravel). It’s a very bare bone and we’re fine with it (we’ve almost ripped it off, but my brother convinced us to keep it, not actually investing in it). In the end we didn’t need it No. 5 Garage, a covered carport for Brian’s vintage truck, making it the perfect space for messy painting projects. And future owners may have what they want to keep here (not intended for future owners, but we always consider all the possibilities).

Some quick and dirty facts:
- The door itself usually costs 18K for a four-door. Selecting a custom Sherwin-Williams paint color adds $10 to 1 square/square. ft. Door cost and a few extra weeks. Don’t forget that ours was in the high end. Don’t forget that they have many design details and less common bells and whistles, and much more affordable.
- These four door installations typically cost around $11,340 and cover the high-end liftmaster motor, all overheads, premium parts, and the 5-star bundles offered by Ponderosa, and of course, the expansion warranty with the effort to install everything. You get what you pay and we are excited. We don’t buy doors individually, but we only need to break down and understand the overall cost.
- The cost did not include new framing and electrical preparation. Not only did I have to replace the doors, but I was repairing the garage so I worked with Ponderosa to frame it completely and prepared all the electricity in advance. Ponderosa measured and ordered the door rear The opening of the framed door is now complete.

When they arrive I am oddly pleased with these garage doors and remain very happy every time my eyes land on them. Happy blue, windows, decorative straps and super smooth and quiet features – truly the best garage door. I feel very fortunate and grateful. I am very grateful Ponderosa For excellent execution at our door. thank you, CropeyTo partner with these beautiful garage doors, and The construction mentioned above It will help you do all the preparation work and repair your garage. I will make it clear that the interior is approaching, I promise.
