Happy Sunday everyone! I think it’s safe to say this was a big week for Jess as she celebrated her 9th anniversary at EHD with the reveal of Living Room and Bedroom. If you missed these rooms, be sure to check them out! Other than that, the PDX team had a very exciting shoot and everyone is gearing up for a great November. Let’s go to the link.

This week’s house tour It’s a pink lover’s dream! designer claudia lamberthas created a postmodern modern family home filled with an amazing variety of her favorite shades. Check it out!

From Emily: Portland locals! While I’m still working on PR to let the world know that we’re not in a conflict zone, I’d also like to introduce you to two local thrift stores that I donate to (and are awesome). I sell my fancy clothes to everyone commission couture We dropped off a bunch earlier this week in the lovely village of Multnomah. Seriously, it’s like 6 bags full of barely worn good stuff (Ulla Johnson, The Great, Sezane, NWT Madewell). I try to close my eyes when I go in because there are some really good ones. Anyway, if you live here, go to Consign Couture and buy barely used designer clothes for much cheaper (and then Yaradive into JP GeneralDon’t forget to stop by. form and function It’s a block away – I love that design shop).

Everything else (including lots of good clothes for the kids) will be donated to the. shirt zen pantsIt’s a super cool thrift store in Hillsdale (by City Tie) run by a 23-year-old guy who got into social life in the weirdest way (weird in a good way, but it’s really hard to explain; you have to follow him to understand why and how he kicks a rock called the Christosphere for hundreds of days until it becomes a sphere). Anyway, I used to donate to things like Goodwill, but I love supporting his business, which is a big hit in Portland (and where a lot of teenagers in Portland are thrifting).

From Marley: Last week I shared the essentials to make the transition to winter more bearable…and somehow I forgot the most important item. You may have heard or read about it online. hatch alarm clock You’ve probably wondered what’s so hard about it? I’m here to tell you everything. Here’s a picture of my routine Before hatching: Getting ready for bed, doomsday scrolling, falling asleep with the lights on, turning off the lights, not being able to go back to sleep, turning on a white noise playlist on Spotify, falling asleep, waking up to an “ad” on the white noise playlist…. Then my alarm goes off in the morning and I doze off 4 times and have a hard time getting up because the room is so dark, why am I so…tired and grumpy??

Ok…this is my routine post–Hatchela: Get ready for bed and tap the top of the hatch. A nice red light will come on, so turn off the lamp and spend some time on your phone or read. Then, after 30 minutes, the red light will dim and white noise will be produced. Sometimes river rapids, sometimes brown noise, sometimes a classic box fan… Hello, options. After 10 minutes, the white noise gets louder, which is your cue to put your phone away. good night! In the morning, half an hour before I have to wake up, a nice soft blue light comes on… then it gets brighter, turns orange, then turns completely yellow… then the gentle birdsong starts, maybe wind chimes… A few minutes later my “alarm” goes off, but I’m already awake, slowly and comfortably. And I’m in a good mood, revolutionary! (Noise, time, color, etc. can all be customized with the app)

Some may think this is unnecessary, and that’s okay. Congratulations on your healthy sleep habits (I’m not jealous of you at all). But as someone who is an inveterate sleep procrastinator and has literally had to drag me out of bed every morning since I was about 2 years old, this little machine has really made my life so much better. I actually received this as a Christmas present from my parents a few years ago and I wish I had had this when I was a teenager (gift idea!!). It was only about $100 when I bought it, but the price has since gone up. A new version with a more advanced design. I think there’s always value in things you really use *everyday*, but if you don’t want to splurge, I recommend checking out your local FB Marketplace. Cheaper camos are available online, but you won’t get the customization or benefits of the Hatch app. I think this is a real benefit 🙂

From Gretchen: Rearranging my furniture this weekend reminded me how much I love furniture. these furniture sliders It’s on hand! When you’re concerned about “style/play/everyday”, especially if you live alone, these sliders make it easy to move large pieces around on a whim without damaging them. We used these sliders a few weeks ago when we renovated the living room at Em’s house and replaced the walnut mid-century furniture with rustic blue cabinets. It took me 5 minutes just to use these sliders. Additionally, these are great because they can be used on hardwoods and carpets and are so far so durable.

From Caitlin: I did it, everyone: I did it completely on a whim. (I mean, how could you not do that after reading Aaryn’s delightfully embellishing hymns?) Of course, I’m talking about myself. new tortellini cabinet knobs. I never knew that ceramic pasta could give you so much energy! To me they are the perfect combination of form and function. From a distance, it looks delicate and circular, but when you look at it up close, it looks festive and happy. Each knob is handcrafted koros ceramicsI’m a Seattle-based potter and I’m so happy to be able to support her small business. If you are looking for a great gift, can you suggest it to her? $30 pasta spoon restshe $11 ceramic pin (How cute would it be if you made a blueberry into a lapel pin?) Or her pickleball espresso cup?Join the whimsical side!!! We’re having fun here!!!

From Mallory: this $50 denim jacket These days I have it in constant rotation and I couldn’t love it more. It’s lightweight but has a secure, boxy fit with plenty of room for layering if needed. Plus, I love the leather collar detail!! It totally reminds me of a very chic barn jacket This one Em wore it on the post in the barn jacket, which was much cheaper, but much cheaper.

Also from Mallory: Well, there’s something very important about Sunday…I went to Anthology over the weekend and when I saw it, it took my breath away. this sweater. A dog wearing a cowboy hat! And boots! I’m into it.

Also from Mallory: I went to the Dwell Open House event last week and it was amazing. In case you haven’t heard, Dwell hosts an annual house tour event in Los Angeles where you can tour some amazing homes. We started by touring the famous Hollyhock House and then drove to other locations, all of which were incredibly exciting. There were a lot of homeowners and architects there too, and I really enjoyed talking to them. Truly one of the best Saturdays. We would love to do this every year!!

From Arlyn: Maybe it’s the fact that my teenage years were the undeniable heyday of the graphic T-shirt renaissance, but I love silly little graphic hats. So when I saw This “Running Late” It was my favorite fall color, so I scooped it up right away. Oh, and did we mention it’s also on sale for under $15?! This “stupid goose” One was a good candidate, but in the end I decided I didn’t want to be known as the mom who always wrote funny words on the school drop-off hats. One was enough…for now.

From Jess: Knowing me means knowing my neutral, almost matte eye makeup. i had this wonderful patrick tawan I’ve been using it for a few years, but I’ve run out of colors and the colors have broken down, and since I wear minimal makeup, it’s a little too big to take with me when I travel. Alas, my favorite everyday color is gone. So when I went to Sephora I got this amazing thing Makeup by Mario Matte Palette. I think you could use most, if not all, of these colors, all in warm neutrals and a nice medium size. I have some of his other products and love them. In conclusion, both palettes are great (I just found them) This one too! ), but I’m excited to really get into this new thing.

Thank you for spending a wonderful week here at this little corner of design. Look forward to another great announcement tomorrow!
